Detective Fidget in “Caught Red Handed”

I knew something was fishy when I woke up a few weeks ago. 9am, awake, getting ready for the pool and I notice my games in disarray, I wasn’t even playing games the night before. Not only are my games in disarray but Battlefield BC2 is in my system instead of COD:WAW, which is usually in there. My controller is on the floor, instead of in my gaming chair, the tv is left on, the tv is on the input for the Xbox and what really made me notice this is the fact that I had messages from people about me playing games with them the night before. One of these messages was, “Good gaming with you! You’re a beast at BF:BC2. Next time talk more! ”. OK, this is just getting weird. My first thought is that my boyfriend was up and gaming in the living room but I know he was in bed all night. Also, he knows better than to play ANY FPS on my gamertag! Good or bad my stats are my stats and I don’t want anyone messing with them. Next I go to my neighbor to see if they were playing with “Me” on BF:BC2 the night before because that is who I normally play that game with. Lanai Gara, also known as Fidget from the pro female gaming team the Frag Dolls, is the newest member of this team hired by Ubisoft.  Lanai, at six years old began her addiction with the FPS genre and video games in general with the classic Duck Hunt. Gaming from the age of six but only becoming truly competitive when she saw how girls in gaming were never taken seriously.

In 2007, Lanai began playing the now best seller COD4 and realized her talent. So with the newest addition of this series, COD World at War, she decided she had something to prove. She began by grabbing #5 in the world on the Beta in FFA and then when the game came out she quickly shot to #1 in the world and held it till she became a Frag Doll at E3 2009. During this ride she co-founded
Team V Gaming and helped manage the 120 person team; with this accomplishment under her belt, she felt she could truly be a mentor and role model for up and coming girl gamers having seen the good and the bad of being #1 in the world. After this experience is when she decided to apply for the Frag Dolls team.

Now her days are busy with the Frag Dolls, traveling across the U.S. to events, practicing with her fellow Dolls for competitions and continuing to be a mentor and role model for aspiring girl gamers everywhere. She is always looking to expand her knowledge in the video game marketing industry whether from another Frag Doll or Forums online. Her hobbies other than gaming consist of paintball, swimming and UFC.

Lanai’s dreams have come true to be a part of the team she has looked up to for so long, the Frag Dolls. She has always wanted to prove to other girls and gamers everywhere that a male dominated industry can be dominated by a woman!
