Just Imagine
April 25, 11:20 AM

I was going to write a blog about the Imagine series DS title, Master Chef, and pretend I thought it was called “Master Chief,” but upon doing a Google search about the game I realized that joke has been told by half the people reviewing it.  Oh well.  That would be cool if they had a DS game called Master Chief.  What they ought to do is take all the existing Imagine games and create parallel titles with Master Chief.  There’d be Master Chief Chef, Spartan Babyz, Armor Fashion Designer, etc.  Yeah, that’d be so cool.  I’d recommend Master Chef if you’re between the ages of 6 and 13. At 23, things like moon angels possessing toy bunnies and saying things like, “By the blessing of Virluna, heed my call, O Light…” don’t really do it for me.  They definitely didn’t design this game with me in mind.  Then again, I’m sure if I was 8 years old I’d probably love it.  And if I had the patience to sit through the possessed bunny storyline, I’d probably learn a lot about being a Master Chef.  By the time we’re all 40 years old (or 60 for some of us), these kids growing up with self-improvement and learning games are going to be like super humans.  Imagine all these little 12 year olds preparing three course meals for the family – now that’s a well spent $30. Mmm, the cupcakes on …

Alyson Craghead is a passionate, self-motivated competitor eager to learn new games and always ready to throw down with the guys in online First-Person Shooters (FPS).  The agility in her game play makes for an exciting performance from a spectators perspective and her soft endearing manner puts a sly spin on her persona.

Craghead, known as Calyber to her online buddies and member of Ubisoft’s all-girl professional gaming team, has been actively playing video games since her pre-kindergarten years, showing an innate ability to handle the controller. Craghead started early with PC FPS games, as her dad and five older brothers introduced her to Doom, Hexen and Quake as they were released.  “Family night turned into Quake Death Matches where I put my brothers to shame,” Craghead states matter-of-factly.

When examining her aptitude for the aggressive FPS games, it appears as though she has always had a natural talent in fierce competitions.  In 2005, Craghead won second place out of a hundred and six gamers, in a Halo 2 Free-For-All at the Game Riot Tour in Scottsdale, Arizona.  She and her team traveled to Las Vegas with some friends to compete in a Major League Gaming tournament and finished among the top 32 teams.  She continued on, traveling to Los Angeles and Atlanta to compete again in Halo 2 at the Major League Gaming tournaments.

In May of 2006, Craghead was recruited into the Frag Dolls through a rigorous Casting Call process which tested her game play, writing and interviewing abilities.  Since joining the Frag Dolls, she has competed in Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter tournaments at the World Series of Video Games, scoring top 8 in the tournament.  In December 2006, Calyber was part of the four member Frag Doll team that took first place in the Rainbow Six: Vegas tournament at CPL in Dallas. She, along with three other Frag Dolls, competed in six Major League Gaming tournaments in 2007, placing in the Championship bracket near the end of the season.  She is very team-oriented and finds the motivation to win in the adrenaline of tournament play.
