This Just In: Scott Pilgrim Really Rocks! -by Glitch My mind has been entirely taken over the past month or two by Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. You’ve probably heard some of this SP business- be it from Twitter, a friend, or someone like myself who’s completely fanboy-googley-eyed about the topic. For all you kids new to this epic of epic epicness (hey you can only fault me so much for that corniness- it’s a related reference) I’ll give you the rundown: there are comics, a movie, a game! The story is about Scott Pilgrim, a 23 year old Canadian freeloader who plays bass with his friends in a band called Sex Bob-omb. He is dating high school girl when the story kicks off, but suddenly becomes infatuated when newcomer Ramona Flowers comes to town. On the path of pursuing her, he must defeat her seven evil exes. Firstly, there is the comic book series Scott Pilgrim by Bryan Lee O’Malley. There are six volumes, the last of which was just released. I highly recommend these books if a good read full of nerdy references and awesome characters sounds up your alley, whether you are a longtime comic-lover or not. I haven’t laughed aloud reading comics that much in some time. I suggest you all get your bums down to the bookstore and pick up the first book or three to try it on for size! Here you can see …

Alyson Craghead is a passionate, self-motivated competitor eager to learn new games and always ready to throw down with the guys in online First-Person Shooters (FPS). The agility in her game play makes for an exciting performance from a spectators perspective and her soft endearing manner puts a sly spin on her persona.
Craghead, known as Calyber to her online buddies and member of Ubisoft’s all-girl professional gaming team, has been actively playing video games since her pre-kindergarten years, showing an innate ability to handle the controller. Craghead started early with PC FPS games, as her dad and five older brothers introduced her to Doom, Hexen and Quake as they were released. “Family night turned into Quake Death Matches where I put my brothers to shame,” Craghead states matter-of-factly.
When examining her aptitude for the aggressive FPS games, it appears as though she has always had a natural talent in fierce competitions. In 2005, Craghead won second place out of a hundred and six gamers, in a Halo 2 Free-For-All at the Game Riot Tour in Scottsdale, Arizona. She and her team traveled to Las Vegas with some friends to compete in a Major League Gaming tournament and finished among the top 32 teams. She continued on, traveling to Los Angeles and Atlanta to compete again in Halo 2 at the Major League Gaming tournaments.
In May of 2006, Craghead was recruited into the Frag Dolls through a rigorous Casting Call process which tested her game play, writing and interviewing abilities. Since joining the Frag Dolls, she has competed in Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter tournaments at the World Series of Video Games, scoring top 8 in the tournament. In December 2006, Calyber was part of the four member Frag Doll team that took first place in the Rainbow Six: Vegas tournament at CPL in Dallas. She, along with three other Frag Dolls, competed in six Major League Gaming tournaments in 2007, placing in the Championship bracket near the end of the season. She is very team-oriented and finds the motivation to win in the adrenaline of tournament play.
