So, have any of you been crying about all of your friends being scattered across the many digital fields and servers of WoW? Well quit complaining; Blizzard has now provided a new feature for paid server transfers and right now this feature is beginning the slow and arduous process of opening to all realms--a service I would personally like to give props to. The Paid Character Transfer feature allows you to move characters to other realms and even from one account where you are the subscriber to another account where you are the subscriber, subject to certain restrictions--all at the low cost of a $25 fee.
For people with primary characters under 60 I foresee this being a very cool and brainless function, as most people want to go to where most of their friends are if they didn’t get the right server the first time. However, for those dedicated to the game I am sure you will see a personal battle of pain and guilt being waged as people consider grouping with friends on one server or staying with their guilds on their current server. For those who knew this function was coming, you might have even seen a fastest leveling contest going on as they try to bring an alternative character to max level so that they could have the cake and eat it too (like me).
I honestly feel this feature was made just for me! I have about 50 friends spread on 8 servers and there is nothing more I would like than to play one of my favorite games with all my other friends. While I know some won’t want to go to another server, I know that 25 will want to congregate on a new server as we build the biggest, baddest guild of all time. I am just working on how to include a social community in with a high level raiding group, and that is quite a problem to contemplate.
I don’t know which world we will all be migrating with, and I am not too worried at this point as my server isn’t open to the transfer yet because they are going in stages, but hopefully some of our friends here that are addicted to this game want to join us as well. I will keep you updated on As the World of Warcraft Turns.
