Everyone knows I suck at making videos, but I was digging around and found this old montage made years ago. It made me tear up a bit remembering all these events and how great it was when I was first able to travel around in this crazy gamer world. While I get to do a lot of amazing stuff, you tend to become used to it and accept it as normal and not special- like it truly is. Anyway, I decided to share this video, created by the legendary youtube artist, Marcus O’Brien, instead of subjecting you to my non-existent video editing skill.

Truly the birth of female gaming as we know it today. The girls finding each other in mass quantities, creating full female teams to show the guys we got games and nobody carried us, the amazing feelings of climbing that mountain and proving things to the world, ourselves, and each other. And this long before the media took notice...The sisterhood, the friendships, that feeling we were doing something special and unique.

In a blog I wrote a long time ago called ”My First Time”, I talk about my experience and what it meant to me when I found those first girls in online gaming. While so many men have always been a huge support to us and what we tried to build (from all-female teams, communities and organizations), I think only those there in the beginning of this era will ever understand what it meant to us and what we went through trying to accomplish our mission: to show other women there was this amazing world they were missing and should be a part of, that it wasn’t a bad thing to be called a “gamer”, and no one stereotype of female gamers should exist. We are your sisters, your mothers, your wives, your cousins, your girlfriends. We ARE the Kids in America!

I am so glad to have been a part of it with Frag Dolls and PMS Clan! Thank you to all our girls who I have met over the last DECADE and learned to love. You will always have a special place in my heart!
