Lyrical Makes a Beat!
Apr 20, 2:23 am

I think one most amazing things about being in the gaming community is the ultimate conglomerate of artists that surround us daily. From graphics, tech wizards, musicians, film, etc. people with superior skills and talents come together and help each other out to build awesome fan sites, articles, and other interesting things for us gamers to oogle and awe about.

It is not surprising that many gamers come with so many talents, as gaming has become so mainstream that we have a bevy of people from all aspects of life.  But it should also be noted that many gamers also become exposed to more creative outlets by gaming itself.  Just look at people in gaming forums who become not only very interested in creating sigs that will identify themselves in a rectangular fashion, but through that start get involved in many graphical outlets including that of game development itself.  Just look at our forums and see how many people don’t have signatures attached to their posts, you won’t find many.

Montages have also become a huge artistic outlet for many gamers, as they proceed to make movies from their gaming footage. This extensive footage of clan matches or fun play time set to musical backgrounds in all moods, are one of the ultimate way gamers share their passion. Double Kill, Triple Kill, Killtaculars abound as head shots are displayed prominatly in these videos that (of course) only show the filmers are kicking their opponent’s butts. Not surprisingly, this type of filming has also been inclined to head to instructional footage, such as how to make some crazy jumps when you have that flag, or learn to shoot like a pro.

Of course when you get into Machinima or Music Videos using Anime and games the creative juices really get going. Since the time gamers were first able to plug in their capturing devices and start recording their own game play, it has evolved into these amazing music videos or home made movies.  One of my faviorite videos is this clip called “Pwned” that is a HIGHLY realitic and hilarious interpretation of the reaction of a typical nerd getting modded on Counter Strike.  For me it is this is a peek into the nature of our world, which is really something that can make us all laugh at ourselves even though it is twisted and demented at the same time.

Red vs. Blue is one of the most well known Machinima makers with their series using Halo 2 charaters involved in a story line that is not only amusing but highly dramatic in terms of becoming a true animated show with millions of followers .  As far as music videos to games go, nothing touches my love for the Halo 1 video set to Dennis Leary’s “I’m an Asshole” video. If you haven’t seen it, this is a MUST.

Machinma is growing so fast, that this artistic expression is already starting to have its own reward shows created around it, as well as software developed solely for the use of its creation.  I don’t think it will take long for this to become as prevalent as cable TV, in terms of viewers and interest, as more and more artists get exposed into this gamer world.  Natural evolution at its finest, I say!

Back to the terms of the general mixture of people with many talents on video games, I my friend, Lyrical (Adams Toomer III), on FFXI made a song for the PMS girls who were playing FFXI with him. Now, he didn’t sit there and slave over it, he simply got a bug up his butt and said, “I’ll be back in a couple of hours with a surprise!” I had an idea it was going to be a song, as I knew he was a musician and a good one at that, as I had checked out his My Space before and heard some of his stuff, but really I was surprised when he came back with the beat he had just busted out.  He came back in a couple hours with the entire song created by himself including the beat, the words, and the recording and that to me is amazing!! Real name: Adams Toomer III. How the hell do people create this kind of stuff on a whim and a moment?

These few examples don’t even touch the depths of the creative talents that lie in our gaming pool. I barely scratched the surface of what is occurring full force in our daily world of gameplay, but I think it is important to note the creativity that naturally lies in the head of all gamers- so this blog is to thank EVERY ONE of you that brings entertainment to us finicky gamers daily in any art form.  Every day, there are links all over forums to video clips that arouse every form of emotion from us- be it laughing, crying, or pissing us off and to all the creaters of this entertainment, THANK YOU.
