Ok, along with thousands of other people I have caught the 1vs100 Live craze on Xbox Live, and tomorrow kicks of the first official show where prizing will be distributed. That’s right, now is the time where your scores really start to matter and people play the game right as they are actually playing for something! If you want a chance at fame, glory, and some good old games and Microsoft points to spend in the Marketplace don’t miss it tomorrow (Friday, July 10th)on Xbox Live at 10EST/9CST/7PST,
As Phoenix explained a few weeks ago, 1 vs 100 Live is a video game replica of the NBC show with the same name where you play the game with real people on Xbox Live for FREE. There are two formats for this game, one being the 1 vs100 “Live” show which is hosted live by Chis Cashmen and real prizing is distributed. The other is the “Extended Play” version that is an automated show with no prizing and everyone against each other. The Extended Play can allow practice and to beef up your stats each week to have better chance at being selected for the main roles of the game.
When the Live Show starts and players enter the lobby of the game , one person (The One) is chosen to go head to head in a trivia battle against 100 other people (The Mob) and the rest are assigned to play along in the masses (The Crowd). All are randomly selected based on past scores and stats on the Live and Extended Play shows. While The Crowd can’t win the Microsoft points, they can still walk away with the glory of seeing their avatars displayed on the big screen for the world to see.
The One wins the game and if he or she eliminates all the members of The Mob when they get a question wrong (Members of The Mob who get a wrong answer still play along in The Crowd). If time runs out in the round, and the One has not eliminated all Mob members, it’s a draw. The One loses if he or she answers a single question incorrectly and that means all the remaining Mob members win the game and split the prizing of 10,000 Microsoft points- that’s worth $125!
At certain points in the round The One can choose “The Money” or “The Mob” which means they can walk away with whatever points they earned thus far or continue to play the round for more points until someone wins. Like the NBC Show, The One also has three helps available to get him/her through a difficult question. They can “Trust the Mob” where their answer becomes whatever the majority of The Mob chose, “Trust the Crowd” using the answer the majority of the Crowd answered, or “Trust the Brain” where the answer is based on whatever the highest scoring member of the round answered. This doesn’t mean they will get the answer right, and I have seen this fail many of times, but it is a great help in a game where one wrong answer means game over.
The best part is after each round, when either the Mob or The One wins, new players are selected for each role- so don’t give up as you still have a chance to be picked as The One or The Mob. The number of rounds in each Live show varies as it depends on how long they last, but normally there are anywhere between 10-15 rounds! This means lots of opportunities, that you will need with thousands playing, to get your shot at the gold.
As far as scoring goes, all players, regardless of role, (Mob, One, Crowd), try to answer trivia questions and their score is calculated by not only being correct but by bonus points in how fast they answered each question, how many people in the MOB got it wrong, and their answer streak (how many correct answers in a row were inputted). The better you do, the higher your score which can put you on the leader board and allow you to walk away with real prizes as well increase the chances you are selected to play as The One or The Crowd.
So what are you waiting for, tomorrow night is a MUST PLAY night so come join the fun and good old trivia (if you have the brain for it) on 1 vs 100 Live on Xbox Live!
