1 vs 100: I was in the Mob!
Jul 30, 8:00 am

Ok this is a blog of excitement as well as a blog where I am going to RANT a little!!!! That’s right people, I was FINALLY in the mob and was one of 21 people to win a game and Microsoft points! Unfortunately, I played my cousin’s account that had never played the game to win this. This is my Rave/Rant…

Last Friday night I was sitting there playing 1 vs 100 with my husband just doing the norm and praying for one we can get chosen to be in the Mob, as we know being picked to be “The One” is next to impossible. My sister and my cousin shortly came over after Comic-Con so we recovered their accounts and loaded them into the game and got ready for some good old family trivia.
Half-way through the LIVE show and only two short rounds of “The One” being chosen since they had got there, there was a flash on the screen after the last “The One” was knocked out. This was before we were actually assigned our roles and I noticed the background of my cousin’s avatar was blue. I shouted, “OMG, Erin is in the Mob!” Nobody believed me as they didn’t see it and it was only for a second but I told everyone to watch and sure enough, they start showing the assignments on the screen and there goes Erin in the Mob!

Instantly, we were all extremely excited and freaking out. Everyone was jabbering and trying to fill Erin in on what was going to happen and to make sure to get everything right. My sister told my cousin to give me the controller since I was so good at being quick to answer, so she tossed me over her controller. I tried to explain being quick didn’t matter when you were in the mob, you wanted to focus on correct answers and not make mistakes but my sister had it in her head only the top three mob winners get to win the games (I corrected them half way in but I stayed answering anyway).

After an intense round of questions, I noticed a pop up when enough mobs were eliminated telling me I had tentatively won points and a game thus far (well my cousin had, but it was me playing). This pop up was below the game avatar picture and stayed there for the duration. It wasn’t long after that “The One” got the answer wrong and I was one of 21 mob members that walked away with the prize. BINGO, I had finally seen how the mob works and it is not a myth, it’s REAL. YIPPPEEEE!!!!

Soon after the excitement waned is when my blood started to boil.  During all the games they TELL you that playing more and in extended play MATTERS in being picked for “The Mob” and “The One”. They say you want to play as much as possible and yes it is accuracy and speed, but how is my cousin who is BRAND NEW to the game being chosen to be in the Mob after 2 rounds?????

If you have ever played extended play you know that after the first 20 questions the questions get tough as heck and the final 17 questions are guaranteed that you will get some wrong which brings down accuracy so you can’t have a perfect 100% for long (100% is what my cousin had when she was picked as she hadn’t played before). So now I am irritated and feel duped about how people are chosen for this game. But I do have a plan for the future now.

Here are some tips of things I am going to do and advise others to do if they want to get chosen to be in “The Mob” or “The One” as I know playing all the time doesn’t matter at this point.

1. Play extended play but only for the first 20 questions then force yourself to leave the game. This should not only protect your accuracy score, but can help you rebuild it if you are like me and were playing the full 37 questions that get progressively harder.
2. If you have another account, use that for extended play sessions or the last 17 questions to protect your accuracy but still be able to play the full rounds.
3. Play all Live shows as really the questions are easy as heck since “The One” never gets very far and this is where you would get chosen to be in “The Mob” anyway.
4. Don’t skip questions in extended play! Screw your streak bonus, did you ever notice it still counts as a wrong question when you skip in terms of accuracy which I believe is the most important in being chosen. Best to take a guess and potentially keep your accuracy!
5. And lastly, when you are playing, play in a party with a diverse group of friends that can help with the various types of questions. It’s nice having a sports freak and a litature guru you with you in the room when your playing. Help each other out as you aren’t playing against each other, your playing to beat the odds of being picked to be “The One” or “The Mob!”.  Go team go!

Anyway, that’s my rant. While I am excited I finally got to see how “The Mob” works, I am still extremely irritated about all the time I spent in extended play slowly bringing my accuracy down. Maybe you guys can now have a better shot at being picked if you follow these tips. I could be wrong about it all, but after seeing this happen I don’t think so! Happy Gaming!
