I spent the last two weeks in Colorado visiting my family. My sister Elize and her husband Tony welcomed a new addition to their family. Juniper Sky Deboom was born at 2:24am on the 26th of June. Juniper, 7bls 5 ounces, is their third beautiful little girl. I am glad I got there when I did because Juniper came earlier than expected. I had a couple days with Elize and baby all to myself. When the rest of the family showed up it was quite crazy. Two wild weeks of entertaining relatives, fourth of July BBQ’s, hospital stays, playing Barbie’s, in-laws, swim lessons, blow-up mattresses, LOTS of driving, Chucky Cheeses, no sleep, arts and crafts and changing diapers, but not to worry, I loved every minute of it. Thank goodness for Starbucks runs and video games.
My sister and her husband play video games too. Every time we visit, we bring new games we think they would enjoy. On this trip we introduced them to R6V2 and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. Surprisingly, we all got in quite a bit of gaming. We can thank late nights with Juniper and my new job for that. My sister (gamertag: RadMartigan) is a fan of Fable 2 and the Halo series. Her husband Tony likes killin’ stuff via first person shooters like Call of Duty. My sister’s oldest is 6 years old and she loves to play Lego Indian Jones and KungFu Panda, her gamertag is Dancing Girl. Elize’s 2 year old (gamertag: PoePoe, a name she chose herself) loves to play whatever her older sister is playing, but Elize secretly reverses the batteries in the controller so it’s just pretend. I love playing video games with my nieces, even though gaming is not a priority in their home, like it is at mine, it’s nice to see gaming does have a place there.
Now it’s home sweet home. It is so nice to walk into a dark and quiet apt and sleep in my own bed! Even thought we travel with an Xbox 360 and a handful of our favorite games, it’s nice to be home to our other consoles and uninterrupted game time. But I do miss the noise and party that is at my sister’s house. Her little girls are amazing. I adore spending quality time with that beautiful family.
