Star Wars Gets Another Face Lift

I am a fan of the original Star Wars trilogy. I was excited to hear that those movies are finally coming to Blu-Ray. That joy was immediately squashed with the news of more “enhancements” that George Lucas has planned for these films.
I don’t understand why he can’t just stop messing with the original Star Wars Trilogy. What the heck? There have been so many changes made to these movies that it’s hard for anyone to see an original version nowadays. These movies are turning into this…

Sure, I would love to see The Empire Strikes Back in high def with a beautiful blu-ray overhaul, but not at the cost of the movie’s integrity. STOP adding unnecessary crap that ruins these movies for those of us who know that this extra stuff doesn’t belong there. You are destroying the sanctity of these films!!
Do you think George Lucas just does this to mess with the fans? Does he really think he is making it better? Personally, I think this is a twisted case of dysmorphic syndrome, where he has obsessive and delusional thoughts about “perceived” defects in his movies and this type of neurosis drives him to act in lunacy. George Lucas needs people around him that are interested in getting him help, because clearly, this man needs therapy.
Look at this 1988 speech that Mr. Lucas gave to Congress about destroying works of cultural heritage, interestingly enough, as it pertains to film:
“People who alter or destroy works of art and our cultural heritage for profit or as an exercise of power are barbarians, and if the laws of the United States continue to condone this behavior, history will surely classify us as a barbaric society. In the future it will become even easier for old negatives to become lost and be “replaced” by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society. Our cultural history must not be allowed to be rewritten. Attention should be paid to this question of our soul, and not simply to accounting procedures. Attention should be paid to the interest of those who are yet unborn, who should be able to see this generation as it saw itself, and the past generation as it saw itself.”

His hypocrisy is astounding! I can barely watch these movies in their current state. I have a VHS copy of Return of the Jedi. The REAL Return of the Jedi, not the digitally altered piece of crap that they’re force feeding to kids these days.

Reading what Lucas wants to do with this new blu-ray version of these films makes me kind of sick. The CHANGES in “Star Wars” Blu-Ray Release seem even more ridiculous than one could possibly imagine. I don’t need the Ewok’s eyes to blink, and it’s rumored that he intends to destroy Frank Oz’s performance by covering up real Yoda with acomputer-generated image…abomination.

I only wish I had original copies of A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. What am I going to show my son? I am embarrassed to show him these movies in their current state. This blu-ray release should come with an option to watch the originals as they were released in the 70’s and 80’s.
At what point do the fans say enough is enough? He keeps doing it because people keep buying this crap. Well I’ve had enough. I’m joining the Star Wars boycott. I will not be getting this Blu-Ray “special” box set. I may just turn my back on this entire franchise. That is a gut–wrenching thought coming from the girl who wanted to legally change her middle name to Princess Leia and name her first born Vader.
Could I raise my son in a world without Star Wars? Could I walk away from a franchise that meant so much to me as a kid?
It would be like putting a bullet into a friend who’s been taken by Reavers, a mercy kill for their own good.
