2009 marks the beginning of my journey as a Frag Doll. It also happens to be the same year a new installment of Splinter Cell is releasing. Now, to find myself working for the same company that makes one of my favorite games ever, seems too good to be true.
So when I was invited to go to E3 I made sure to take full advantage of our job and get a first hand look at one of the years most anticipated games, Splinter Cell Conviction.
I love the Tom Clancy Splinter Cell series. Sam and I have a history. To truly know where I’m going with this, you have to know where I’ve been.
Before I really got into gaming, I would watch my boyfriend play Splinter Cell. I wanted to play but I am left-handed and the game didn’t have southpaw controller options, therefore, I would watch and direct. That is, until my back seat gaming frustration drove me over the edge. My brilliant strategies and commands were not being properly implemented or executed by said boyfriend. So, I had to take matters into my own hands. I was determined to learn to play this game (even if I had to play right handed).
It was slow going!! I had to take my time, but the game rewards you for employing stealth, so it was a perfect fit. It was not without it’s challenges… but, slowly, and over time I began to play really well; but, no matter how good I got, I still couldn’t survive a fire fight or track and kill multiple targets. Consequently, I had to be better at everything else. I excelled at being sneaky, while working through the level in the most efficient and creative way possible. Like most gaming experiences, the better I got the more I enjoyed the game.
I fell in love with the stories, the environments, the characters, and the freedom to explore and attack your objective in style. Splinter Cell, to me, is a franchise too good to just sit by and watch it being played from the sidelines. While Splinter Cell may not be my first gaming addiction it is my first game love.
I have grown so much as a gamer since then. Sam and I have come so far, look at us now. It is thrilling to have the opportunity to work for the company who first inspired and challenged me beyond what I thought I was capable of and gave me my first virtual crush.
I am so excited to be apart of the Ubisoft family. I look forward to the opportunity to grow, learn and make a difference here and hopefully, get a chance to play Splinter Cell Conviction before any of my friends. haha.
WATCH THIS IN HIGHER RESOLUTION HERE!
