Recently I have had to answer a number of questions put to me by students researching the subject of women in games. Here are a few of those questions. I thought I would see if any of the ladies in our community were interested in offering up their answers as well. I am curious as to your thoughts on this subject and would love to hear what you have to say in response to the questions below.

1) How did you get involved in the Frag Doll Community?

2) Do you think game companies do enough to try to attract girls to games?

3) What do you think of the representation of female characters in games?

4) What do you think of the games and consoles being marketed to girls (pink controllers, fashion games, etc.)?

5) Do you identify with the label “female gamer” or “girl gamer”?  Do you have a strong or weak reaction to it and why?

6) If you do not identify with either label, is there another label you prefer? Why?

7) How do you believe the community of female gamers communicates its identity?  How do you personally communicate your identity as a member of this community?

8) Give specific nonverbal examples of how you communicate your identity as a female gamer.

9) Are there ways of communicating the female gamer identity that you would consider inappropriate?

10) How do you feel you, as female gamers, are changing gaming culture?

11) What is one of the biggest obstacles you face as a female gamer?

12) When interacting online, do you ever feel players communicate with you based on preconceived ideas about female gamers? If so, how?

13) In the context of gaming, have you ever been discriminated against because you are female? If so, how?
