Evolving Together

As you may or may not know my husband Rigney and I have decided to implement a new exercise plan into our lifestyle. With the recent launch of Your Shape™ Fitness Evolved for Kinect on Xbox 360®, we thought this was the perfect time to give this revolutionary new fitness game a try. The game claims you can “get real results” and “get the body you’ve always wanted”. Well I’ll settle for the body I once had. So we accepted the challenge and set out to put this game and it’s claims to the test! Can a video game really help you get into shape? Can it help me loose all this “baby weight”? I am starting to believe that it can.
We are two weeks in and both Rigney and I have been diligently working out by playing Your Shape: Fitness Evolved. In the past working out has been a challenge. Going to the gym in LA sucks. You should only go there AFTER you are totally in shape and super hot. You would think a place full of perfectly toned bodies would be motivating but it’s more like repellant.
So working out at home has been really nice. Not to mention the more I do it the more empowered I feel. Before I could never get the motivation to go work out on my own. If I wanted to work out with Rigney we were always at the mercy of his schedule or we would often let the LA traffic dictate our window of opportunity. Add to that, the fact that Rigney and I like to work out at different times. Rigney likes to work out in the morning and I like to work out at night. It was always a tug of war and most of the time we would just skip the work out all together.
That has all changed! Rigney wakes up early before work to play Your Shape and I play at night. We are both getting the workouts we need and neither one of us is having to compromise or sacrifice our time for our partner’s workout. It’s very liberating! Both of us have been enjoying the extra exercise and I have already lost 5 pounds!! I even got some super cute new exercise clothes and some new tennis shoes to stoke the fire of motivation. And it’s all working!
I gained 50 lbs during my pregnancy. I lost 20 lbs the first week right after Gideon was born. I’ve lost 5 lbs since starting to play Your Shape: Fitness Evolved and I have 25 more to go. I know losing weight after you have a baby can be difficult. Not all of us can afford personal chefs and trainers, I know I certainly can’t. Rigney and I would both like to see me back to my pre-baby weight. I am committed to loosing this weight and he is committed to helping me each step of the way. I believe I can accomplish my goal and I am counting on YourShape to help me get there. We are looking forward to sharing with everyone how this game can change not only your body but also your quality of life.
We have a thread in the Your Shape: Fitness Evolved Forums listing all of our current blogs and you can follow us on the Your Shape Game Website as we “Evolve Together”.
