CES 2010 Resistance is Futile
Jan 11, 3:00 pm

Brookelyn and I were at CES in Las Vegas this week and as I walked around the show floor looking at all the latest and greatest the tech world had to offer I came to this conclusion: it is a great time to be alive (and using an iphone)!

We were invited to CES by Microsoft to demo Splinter Cell Conviction at their game corner in the Microsoft booth. We showed a new demo and it was action packed.

At the Dolby booth, Patrick Redding, Game Director for SCC co-op mode was walking people through one of the Deniable Ops Mission, playing Hunter (a new game mode where you eliminate all the enemies in a progressive sweep of the map). He was playing on the Saint Petersburg map. Splinter Cell Conviction’s Co-op looks amazing.

CES is held once a year in Las Vegas. Brooke and I stayed at Hilton, which was the home of one of my favorite Vegas shows ever!

The Star Trek Experience

I was sad to see it is no longer there but have fond memories of taking flight with the Klingons and being assimilated by the Borg. I wonder what they did with all the memorabilia that lined the path to the rides? It will be missed.

Even though we couldn’t ride in an away team on a small shuttle craft Brooke and I still managed to have fun. We went to the Microsoft party at the Hard Rock Casino. The party was held at the new night club Vanity. The best thing about the club was the women’s restroom. It was amazing, huge and absolutely beautiful. Super swanky, I just hung out in there for a while, making friends and watching the bathroom attendants get their groove on.

One of the days I got to walk around a bit more and I went straight to the iPhone accessories and the Game Lounge. They were passing out all kinds of different iphone covers. My favorite were from Case-Mate and the cases at the Griffin Techology booth.

I also entered for a chance to win some wicked cool covers for iphone ear buds. I didn’t win the sparkly ones just a set of the pink sports silicone. I put them on my iphone hands free ear buds, they are still super cute. Then I went over to the Gunnar glasses and got me some awesome glasses! I am hoping these glasses will decrease my headaches while playing and increase the amount of time I can play. I’ll keep you posted on the results.

A few things I got at CES:

Gunnar glasses – glasses for gamers. Increases visual edurance, decreases eye fatigue, cuts down glare, enhances detail for sharper, clearer vision and provides contrast for greater accuracy and efficiency.

Power Pyramid – A mega charging station for PlayStation and Xbox 360 controllers, holding both controllers at the same time.

GELA SKINS – beautifully hip skins for your Xbox, PS3, PSP, computer, phone and more. Every skin has a matching wallpaper you can download from their site. www.gelaskins.com/wallpapers. BUT THE BEST PART!!! You can upload your own designs and have your own art made into skins. These skins are amazing. They are easy to put on and take off and don’t leave behind any sticky residue. I got a cool Tokidoki skin for my iphone.

Incipio Dotties™ iphone covers – cool high density silicone covers with customizable dots. You can mix and match 15 color dots loaded into the case.

DEOS Apple Earphone Covers – these unique ear bud covers, exclusive to apple earphones, which feature titanium with diamonds, Swarovski crystals, aluminum, and sports silicone. I am a sucker for sparkles.

Discgear – Selector 80S, Patented disc storage for your DVD’s and Video Games. With a hidden disk index (that you can customize on their website) choosing which disc to watch or play is very quick and easy. I got one of these in pink.

Phubby Wrist Cubby – the wrist cubby holds your ipod or iphone and you can access your screens through the fabric leaving your hands free. I didn’t end up getting one of these but I want one. I think I could really use it when I go on my walks.

My favorite buy at the show was this awesomely girly hairdryer.  4267419802_a7a62a80b4.jpg

I have had a lot of fun here at CES. I only wish I had more time to walk around and see everything. As I walk around looking at all the amazing things people have been able to accomplish, it struck me that, human beings are amazing and I am extremely grateful to live in this technological age. Who knows what the future will hold? If what I’ve seen here at CES this year is any indication then we have a very exciting time ahead of us.
