A Labor of Love

I loved Fable 2!! I completed the game two or three times on two different gamer tags. I made a number of videos offering achievement help and clever cheats. In fact, I get more views and comments regarding my Fable 2 videos than any of my other videos. After the launch of Fable 2, I was greatly disturbed about one of the achievements. In order get the 1000 base gamerscore, you had to make additional purchases on Xbox Live Arcade. I thought this was so unfair that I took it upon myself to help as many people as I could to get the one achievement that violated the Microsoft achievement policy. For about 5 months I spent 20 min to an hour a day in Bowerstone Market helping people get the Completionist Achievement. I called it my “Fable Charity Work”. I still get requests from people asking for help. While I no longer pass that achievement on to people in Fable 2, the desire to help people master this game is alive and well. In the spirit of the holiday and my love for Fable, I thought I would help some of you reach your goals and complete all the achievements in Fable 3. Happy hunting!

5247982107_ce0d968586_s.jpg He’s a Woman, She’s a Man – 5G
Wear a full set of clothing intended for the opposite sex.

I have put this achievement in the quests section because you can get this one during “The Missing Play” quest as you have to wear costumes and will get this whether your hero is male or female.

5247982051_8282362cb1_s.jpg Ghost Brothers – 10G
Make sure Max and Sam get home in time for tea.

Accept and complete the Mourningwood quests “Bored To Death” and “Gone But Not Forgotten”.

5247982075_bff87a1db0_s.jpg Save the Princess – 10G
Rescue the princess from the evil Baron.

Accept and complete “The Game” quest in Bowerstone Market. Head toward Bowerstone Old Quarter and speak with the guys wearing robes inside a house on the left.

5247982167_bf7de32a72_s.jpg The Dark Sanctum – 10G
Reinstate an ancient, evil temple.

Accept and complete the following quests in Mourningwood: “Peace, Love and Homicide” (The first quest becomes available during the “Bowerstone Resistance” chapter of the story), “Excavation”, “Awakening” and “Leverage”

* Note: These quests are not likely to be available once you become Ruler of Albion.

5248584452_ffc3a4415b_s.jpg Island Paradise – 10G
Establish the Island of Driftwood.

Driftwood is located beyond the woods of Millfields. Complete the “Restoration” quest in Millfields to have a bridge built. Return later to cross over to the old gypsy camp. Find, accept and complete the quests, “Pest Control” and “Gift Wood for Driftwood”. Once they are complete leave the area and the achievement will unlock.

5248584536_d54a239ed8_s.jpg Knight Jumps Chesty – 10G
Defeat Chesty at his own game.

Visit the Sunset House at night and head to the glowing gazebo to the left of the house halfway up the hill. Approach the four ghostly statues and interact w/ each statue 4 times (walk up to each statue and press A four times) and cycle through their poses to make the house transform. Go into the Sunset House Mansion, read the letter on the table beside the hung skeleton to begin the quest. Go upstairs and sleep in the bed.  This sends you to a place with a giant chessboard. Speak w/ Chesty to initiate the chess game. Survive the game to unlock the achievement.

* Note: Once you read the note you cannot leave the house until you complete the quest.

5247982171_34abe4cfdf_s.jpg Kaboom – 10G
Score 2000 on the Mourningwood Fort mortar game.

5247982015_43fd18fe80_s.jpg Tough Love – 10G
Save the maximum amount of Albion citizens.

Unlocking this achievement requires that you save 6.5 million Albion citizens during the “Weight of the World” portion of the story. In order to do that you need to accumulate 6.5 million gold in the treasury after you become Ruler of Albion. When you become Ruler of Albion you have to decide to keep or break the promises you made. Each promise comes with a monetary value and your decision effects the amount of gold in the treasury. I started making and saving money really early in the game. I wanted to be able to keep all my promises and still have enough money to get this achievement. I used all my own money to cover the promises and replace what was needed in the treasury. Here are a few ways to make money:

• The Demon door at the Sunset House contains 1,000,000 gold.
• Use the money you have to buy as much realistate as possible. I jacked up all my prices (even though I play “good” – I put all the prices back after I got the achievement and I am still at 100% good).
• Work in one or all of the different jobs available (earning money this way takes forever)
• Have a friend gift you gold
• Play in another Hero’s world through Xbox live and earn money.
• Dig it up, find it on shelves or in chests and cupboards.

* Note: Your last chance to earn enough money comes before you are asked to decide on the Protection For Aurora. If you don’t have 6.5 mil saved in the treasury go earn more money DON’T GO INTO THE THRONE ROOM because it sets in motion events that cannot be stopped and you wont have any more chances to earn or transfer money to the treasury.

5248584442_0b9202035f_s.jpg Coronation Chicken – 10G
Perform a royal judgment while dressed as a chicken.

You get a chicken suit when you accept the quest “Chicken Caser” in Brightwall (during the “Leaders and Followers” portion of the story). I have also seen chicken suits for sale in the shops. After you become Ruler of Albion you will have a number of different duties, most of which require you to go to the throne room and rule on various matters (keep or break your promises time). I would recommend wearing the suit on your first ruling, just so you don’t forget later.

* Note: You have to put the suit on before you enter the throne room as you will not be able to access The Sanctuary once inside the throne room.
* Note: You will only have a few chances to get this achievement, and like the Tough Love achievement, you must have your chicken suit on BEFORE you enter the throne room to decide on the Protection For Aurora. That will be your last chance.

5248584522_97e244ca1f_s.jpg Magnate Personality – 50G
Build a property empire worth 2,000,000 gold.

Start working on this achievement early in the game. (once you open the “Landlord Chest” on the Road to Rule) Play some lute hero or take any other job just to get the money ball rolling. Buy what you can afford, repair it and rent it out. The most valuable places to own that generate the most revenue are the Pawnbrokers and Taverns, but they are also the most expensive. Save up and buy 1 or 2 early on, jack up the prices and use the money to buy the more expensive houses. Just keep buying up properties (wagons, houses, stalls, shops, and pubs) and repairing them and renting them out until this achievement unlocks.

5248584418_b2a5a1963e_s.jpg You Can’t Bring Me Down – 50G
Complete Fable III w/out being knocked out in combat.

I have this one listed as a quest achievement because it’s important that you start playing with this in mind. This is not as difficult as it sounds. Just make sure that as you play through the game you buy up as many health potions as possible. Try and stay away from enemies by dodging and using long raged attacks. Also stock up on Slow Time potion and Summon Creatures potions. The potion that raises creatures from the dead to help you fight is very handy in tough battles as the enemies will concentrate their efforts on killing them instead of you. During combat you will see the d-pad choices appear to use potions. When the d-pad choices start to blink red take a health potion. Don’t wait for you screen to go red before you take or use a potion.

5248071731_6c3d2aa61a_s.jpg Total Warrior – 10G
Kill enemies with melee, ranged, and spell attacks.

Kill at least one enemy with each weapon type to unlock this achievement.

5248674800_db3c54d3e9_s.jpg Spellweaver – 5G
Combine two gauntlets to cast a “woven” spell.

You spend guild seals to unlock the Spell Weaving ability on the Road to Rule. You also need to have unlocked more then one spell. In the sanctuary select the combination of two different gauntlets. Cast them both simultaneously to unlock the Achievement.

5248674826_8ebc365888_s.jpg Archmage – 20G
Cast all 15 possible spell combinations.

Purchase these spells and the ability to weave them together with Guild Seals on the Road to Rule.

Here are the combinations:

Fireball + Shock, Vortex, Ice Storm, Force Push, and Blades.
Shock + Vortex, Ice Storm, Force Push, and Blades.
Vortex + Ice Storm, Force Push, and Blades.
Ice Storm + Force Push, and Blades
Force Push + Blades

5248674810_253ba67871_s.jpg Pull! – 10G
Send and enemy flying into the air and kill him while he’s airborne.

The easiest way to do this is catch an enemy inside a powerful Vortex spell and then open fire on him to unlock the achievement. Or equip a pistol to fire at an enemy, as he is hit he will fly back, shoot him again before he reaches the ground. You could try using a slow time potion if you don’t think you are quick enough.

5248674774_cd62f7939d_s.jpg Gunning For Glory – 20G
Kill 500 enemies using firearms.

5248071743_da528a6e59_s.jpg If It Bleeds, We Can Kill It – 20G
Kill 500 enemies using melee weapons

5248674782_22350e852e_s.jpg Wizard’s Revenge – 20G
Kill 500 enemies using magic

5248071775_c4b6a108fe_s.jpg Super Hero – 50G
Fully upgrade your Melee, Ranged, and Magic abilities on the Road to Rule.

Purchasing all five upgrades for each will cost you a total of 900 Guild Seals. So spend those seals wisely, avoid unlocking stuff you don’t need.

5248674792_9d13875bb6_s.jpg My Weapon’s Better Than Yours – 25G
Complete 3 unique upgrades on one of the legendary weapons found around Albion.

The requirements for the upgrades vary from weapon to weapon. It’s best if you can find a weapon that suits your playing style. Pick a weapon and stick with it. Earning upgrades is time consuming.

5248674748_904b98cc8d_s.jpg Barrel of Laughs – 10G
Kill 30 Enemies w/ explosive barrels.

Here are the best areas for getting your kills w/ exploding barrels:
The Hole, Mercenary Camp, and Bowerstone Old Quarter (Battle for Albion).

5247936223_c43f8539ba_o.jpg

5248084821_5666ae67b0_s.jpg Brightwall Book Club – 30G
Collect 30 rare books for the Brightwall Academy.

Accept “The Pen Is Mightier…” quest in Brightwall Village. For every 5 books you find and return to Samuel at the Brightwall Academy he will give you a quest to find one of the 5 Rare Books (these books do not exist in the world outside these quests)

5248687494_4d2739afba_s.jpg I Am the Keymaster – 30G
Collect all 50 Silver Keys and 4 Gold Keys

The map table in The Sanctuary and in the castle’s War Room will tell you how many keys there are in a give area.

GOLD KEY LOCATIONS

Driftwood – Gold Key
Once you unlock the Island Paradise Achievement that gives you complete access to Driftwood. Use the newly-built bridge to get to the flit switch on the tiny island to the right and strike it. Then follow the switch to the Cullis Gate. Use the gate to travel to a path leading to the gold key. *note that you needed to give the builders enough time to construct the bridges

Mistpeak Valley – Gold Key
In order to get to this key you have to enter Cillbreath Caverns via the entrance uphill from the Mistpeak Monorail station and go to the frozen lake inside the cave.  Head up the slope to the right of the lake and continue in a straight path, bypassing the rocky land bridge on the left. Fight your way through and exit the cave to claim this key.

Sanctuary – Gold Key
In the treasure room in the Sactuary, there is a Gold Key up high that will require $5 million in gold mounded up for you to reach it. As the Ruler of Albion you’ll have access to the treasury. Once you have the key, move all the money to the Albion Treasury and you can open the chest that was under all your money. Inside is a Legendary weapon.

Shifting Sands – Gold Key
Once you complete the campaign return to the City of Aurora Locate a man near the tattooist and purchase a key for 4,000. Cross the desert to the area of the shifting sands. Then go to the left and head down the stairs behind the ruins until you reach the door. (Crossroads of Passing) Enter into a puzzle room.

The pathway for the left room is as follows: west, west, north, north. Pathway for the east room is North, East, North, East. From the east room, go north twice. Going in a wrong direction will merely summon Dark Minions.

The Veiled Path – Gold Key
At the staircase at the far end of The Veiled Path is the entrance to The Enigma area. Look for a flit switch at the end of the room above the door.

5248084831_e4a4f94390_s.jpg Flower Power – 30G
Collect all 30 Auroran flowers

Here are the flowers found in each Auroran location:

City of Aurora = 1 green, 1 blue, 1 purple, 1 orange, 1 yellow
Shifting Sands = 1 blue, 2 purple, 2 orange, 2 yellow
Sandfall Palace = 2 green, 2 red, 1 blue,
The Veiled Path = 1 green, 2 red, 2 blue, 2 purple, 2 orange, 2 yellow
The Enigma = 1 green, 1 red

5248084803_91911b4d83_s.jpg Gnome Invasion – 30G
Destroy all 50 Gnomes

You need to accept the quest “Gnomes are Great” in Brightwall Village. Upon completing the quest leave and then return to Brian and accept the “Gnomes are Evil” quest. This is the quest that requires you to search for each Gnome all over Albion and Aurora. When you are near a Gnome you will hear him insulting you with his high pitched hurtful commentary. Like the Silver Key’s the table maps will tell you how many Gnomes are in each area.

5248687480_42154e259c_s.jpg Digger – 15G

5248084859_85d8dba5be_s.jpg Chest Grandmaster – 40G
Unlock all the chests on the Road to Rule.

I didn’t try to do this during the campaign. I was concentrating on opening only the chests I needed. I have read that it is possible to open every chest in 1 playthrough of the game. You have to do every side-quest available. Earn extra seals by interacting with villagers, making friends and doing expressions. You can also earn guild seals in combat (especially with a weapon that generates additional Guild Seals during combat) and “farming” Mourningwood, Mistpeak Valley, and Shifting Sands.

5248719188_66a7c1b2c8_s.jpg We Need Guns, Lots of Guns – 20G
Collect all 50 Legendary Weapons. They wont all appear in your world, so trade with other Heroes!

Even though this is an achievement requiring you to collect items I have put it in the Multiplayer Achievement section because you need Xbox Live to acquire all the weapons. Your game will only yield 30 different legendary weapons on any given playthrough most of what you get is left to chance. Everyone’s world has a slightly different mix of available weaponry. Since not all the weapons can be found in your game you will have to trade with other players on Xbox Live in order to collect them all. I would recommend working together with a few friends to collect them. Each one of you should collect, trade and swap until you have them all. Take turns holding all the weapons to unlock the achievement. Below are a few different locations where you can find legendary weapons to help you start collecting.
