2009 marks the 25th anniversary of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I can’t think of a better place to celebrate then at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. The Turtles were everywhere and hardcore turtles fans were out in record numbers. It was evident that this is the year of the turtle.

The Shell-ebration was in full swing as fans found their way over to the turtle booth were they were treated to an exclusive look at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Smash-Up.  Tons of TMNT fans went head to head and got a taste of this fighting action brawler. Young or old, big or small, weather you’re a seasoned Turtle Maniac or a new fan to the franchise, this game has something for everyone.

Whoo Hoo!! I finally have my very own copy of TMNT Smash-up!!!! I have been waiting to own this game from the first time I played it at E3. For the last few days I have been exploring the parts of the game that have, up to now, been unavailable to play at events and such. Looking through all the games options I was really surprised by how many different modes there are and how much stuff there is to do. There are a lot of different facets to this game, here are a few you may or may not know.

Arcade Mode – is my favorite because of the original story, written by Peter Laird and the beautiful comic book come to life feel of the graphics, drawn by Jim Lawson.

Mini Games – although I’ve been failing miserably at these, they are really fun. I can’t believe how many there are. One day I will master these….oh yes….I will.

Bonus Content – which I am working hard to unlock. There are also a ton of characters, collectables and trophies to unlock.

Game Arts - developed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Smash-Up and much of the development team is from Smash Brothers and Team Ninja. Some of the other sited game influences: Street Fighter II, Tekken, Power Stone, and Virtual Fighter. Despite that, the fighting style and controls are unique to this game.

25 years of Turtle History - This game was created from the ground up to be a stand alone Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game. It’s creation and release is not directly in conjunction with a Turtles movie or TV show but this stand alone games pulls different elements together from the entire Turtle history. The game features all the classic TMNT characters, a few obscure ones and a few surprise cameos, each with their own unique moves, weapons and skills.

Extra Awesomeness - The game offers multi-tiered environments with destructible and interactive elements, ninja power ups and a combo system ranging in difficulty that appeals to the beginner or your inner ninja master.

Lots of Options - Play by yourself of with friends. This 4-player action brawler features classic arcade game play, online multiplayer, tournament, mini games, survival and battle royal game modes. There are a number of different ways to play on the Wii, using the classic wii controller, Gamecube controller or the Wii remote with or without a Nunchuck.

One of my favorite things about this game is that I truly feel this is a game made by turtle’s fans for turtles fans. What more could we ask for?
