new year, new toys

corgi dog

Sigh. So the holidays are over, which makes me sad for a few reasons. 1) Back to work and 2) Less free time for games. Regardless, it’s a new year, which means new toys and new games! I feel like I’ve gotten so many blessings this Christmas… I like making lists, so here we go:

1) An Xbox 360 (read my previous blog)

Surprisingly, I’ve spent the most time playing Hexic - a free puzzle game that came with my machine. How ironic that I’ve been playing graphically simple games on such a complicated machine. rasberry PDZ was fun, but I think my brain went on an FPS break and wanted some action/adventure. So I switched to King Kong. Seeing the movie just made me want to play the game even more and so far, it’s pretty sweet.

2) A PSP

I didn’t realize how awesome this shiny little device was until I got one as a gift. Within the first night that I received my new toy, I spent all night here and here having fun. I am sooo addicted to this little gadget and yet I haven’t even bought any actual games for it! hehe.

3) Nintendogs

I still don’t have a DS, but now I have complete access to one. The first thing I was dying to try out was Nintendogs. But I couldn’t have just any dog. I was dying to get the Welsh Corgi pack. If you don’t know why, read my Dec. 6 blog here. I realized this game is perfect for me because since I’m on the road with FDs missing my real dog, at least now I can bring along my virtual dog. And he never grows up! yay!

4) Mario Kart for the DS

I love old skool stuff, so I was thrilled when I started playing some of the missions and discovering they had integrated some of the old Mario Kart maps from SNES and N64! The missions seem “easy” at first (psh, collecting 10 coins? Piece of cake!), but try to get the top ranking in each one and it’s not that easy. Can’t wait to try some wi-fi versus mode. Just need to find a victim.

So even if you didn’t get the toys you wanted this year, at least there are plenty of awesome games to look forward to. Happy New Year everyone!!
