Being sick sucks...but being sick without any games to play really sucks. Day 2 was the peak of my flu and I really wanted a game to play while I was lying in bed. I looked at my Wii and just couldn’t imagine my achy body being able to do any of the movements required by the controller and nunchuck. I hoped to practice some Rainbow Six: Vegas, but something just told me that I just wouldn’t be up to my normal standards. I browsed through my game library, hoping to come up with a game that wasn’t too intense, fun, and wouldn’t require too much thinking. Then I saw my unopened copy of Open Season.
I had played this at E3 and PAX last year and immediately loved the lightheartedness and humor of the game. Bears using “hare” triggers, throwing skunks at humans to divert their attention, and a giant bear hiding behind a few branches as his “camouflage”. The game is silly and fun and before I knew it, I was replaying levels in order to collect all the badges I hadn’t collected. Oh, and I never thought that me playing this game would cause a stir in my Xbox live friends list! People were messaging me saying “I can’t believe you’re playing OPEN SEASON!”. Honestly, I couldn’t care less. And before you say, “Wait, isn’t this a KID’S GAME?”, let me just show you my favorite part - riding down the river on an outhouse. You gotta love it.
