Hot fun in the summertime
Jun 14, 7:14 am

Ah yes, summer is here. I can feel it in my AC-less 95 degree house. But it’s also a perfect time for beaches, popsicles, and of course, vacations. I just came back from a well spent week in southern california and it was a blast. Two big things happened to me while I was in so cal: Disneyland, and God of War.

I love that everytime I go to Disneyland, I feel like a kid. I can wear my giant green Goofy hat, wave at the characters in the parade, and not feel ridiculous. And if there is any better time to visit Disneyland, it is RIGHT NOW. They have this amazing 50th anniversary fireworks special that just blew me away. You might think, “Fireworks, what’s the big deal? How can it get better than any other 4th of July show?” Well, from what I remember, there was fire coming out of the Cinderella castle, lasers, lights, cool sound effects, all coordinated with music and themes from the past 50 years at Disneyland. And it wasn’t just like watching a show, it felt like I was in the show. See it and you’ll know what I mean. ;P Plus throw in all the cool rides- pirates, haunted house, indiana jones, jungle cruise, and last but not least splash mountain, and you have a very fun filled day. I have to say though, the haunted house ride really did scare me due to the fact that the park was about to close and the ride was completely empty when we showed up. eek.

So after LA, it was off to San Diego. It was no beaches for me though since it seemed like all of so cal was having “june gloom” at the moment. Fortunately, my friend had God of War. I have not completed a Play Station game since FF9, but since I had heard so many good things about this game, I decided to give it a try. The first 20 minutes for me was deja vu. Uh, pirate ships, lots of rain, and splitting people in half? Can we say Prince of Persia: Warriors Within? Ok, maybe I was being harsh. Anyhow, once I hit the first boss, I realized that this was nothing like any other game. It was not only visually beautiful with a movie quality soundtrack, but it had great gameplay and was very thorough. I have also never played a Greek mythology based game, so that in itself totally drew me in. I was pretty hooked because I spent my whole 2 days in SD playing and beating this game. I haven’t pulled all-nighters since college, but I pulled almost 2 all-nighters for this game. Partially because I was determined to beat it before leaving SD, but also because all I wanted to do was find that darn Pandora’s Box! Anyhow, it was 8:30 am when my friend and I shared a high five to celebrate the victory. Sigh, now I could finally go to sleep.
