Being a Frag Doll means lots of traveling. And besides having to pack/unpack all the time, hang out at airports, be jet lagged and so on, there’s one thing I really dislike about traveling - losing my stuff! It’s been over 2 weeks since E3 and I’ve barely just finished unpacking all the swag, free t-shirts, business cards, and stuffed bunnies in my suitcase. I was really bummed to realize that I lost a couple things on this trip - 1) my DS stylus 2) my new sunglasses with pink rhinestones on the side (a perfect FD accessory) and 3) my copy of Mario Kart DS.
#1 was easily replaced by the extra stylus that came with my DS. #2 is the reason I don’t pay more than $10 for sunglasses and #3 was the most devastating loss, mainly because I had beaten almost everything on 150cc and was progressing along on the Mirror Cup! Before E3, Jinx had been showing me her shiny new white DS lite and we wanted to check out a game on it. So I put in my Mario Kart and we ooh-ed and ahh-ed at the pretty bright screen. And since the DS was on loan from some Nintendo people, we gave it back and I didn’t even stop to remember that my game was still in it. I only noticed days later and immediately panicked. I told Beadle, our PR superstar, and even though we were smack in the middle of day 2 of E3, he said he’d try to get my copy back. And a few days later, he DID! My hero.
So I guess everything turned out ok in the end, but with all that was going with E3, it was quite stressful to think that I would have to spend another 15-20 hours on Mario Kart to catch up where I was. And I lied, I’m not done unpacking yet either. I’m still figuring out which of my gamer friends get the “Girls FTW” shirts we gave out during our big WE3 picture and the “Gamers Score More” shirts we handed out during our first big signing session. And speaking of freebies, one of my favorite goodies had to be the PACMAN toys that came in those little bubble dispensers - I know Psyche liked them too.
E3 is not only swag overload, but it’s sensory overload. Of course I didn’t get to see everything, but I was really impressed by the things that I DID see. My top picks were (in no particular order):
The last one seemed to come out of nowhere, but it was the funniest game demo I had ever seen - of course the live commentary at E3 helped too. I also met the video game pianist who I am a HUGE fangirl of and heard awesome reviews on the Wii and Gears of War. with so many awesome upcoming titles, it’s hard to pick my favorite. Maybe by the time I’ve finished unpacking I’ll have figured it out.
