broken finger = no gaming?!?!
Nov 12, 6:52 am

Well, it’s not exactly broken, but here’s the deal.

I’ll have to keep this short since typing has become somewhat frustrating at this point. So I was playing in my weekly co-ed basketball league and I had just subbed in. I was in for literally 2 minutes at most when I went up for a rebound and felt my pinky jam into the ball. Happens all the time, right? But then when I looked at it, it was totally bent out of shape – like I was double jointed even though I’m not. Pretty gross looking, I have to say.

Having never broken a bone in my body (I’ve had lots of stitches), I totally panicked, ran up to my friend who was reffing and we pretty much stopped our game. The other all-guys team that was playing stopped their game and everyone just kind of crowded around wondering what to do. My pinky was clearly dislocated. One of the guys who had been medically trained said to just pull the tip and it would pop back into place. Of course, no one wanted to do this, but I had a lucky volunteer who graciously and heroically “pulled my finger” for me.

I could suddenly feel my finger again! Of course, I sat out for the rest of the game icing my pinky, but hey, we won the third place championships!

Now that my finger is all wrapped up in a splint, I realized that the pinky was the best finger to dislocate. Although it is a bit hard to type as fast as I used to, the most important thing is that I can still play my video games. I’ll end that with a – yay!

UPDATE:  A few us are supposedly appearing on Fox TV’s “Fox and Friends” tomorrow morning (11/13/2004).  The show is from 7 - 10am Eastern time… At least I think so.
