Bloody Cookies & Comics
Feb 15, 8:32 am

Recipe for blood splatter cookies:

  • 1 cup butter

  • 1-1/2 cup sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 2-1/4 cups flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/2 tsp almond extract

  • 1 tsp cream of tartar (weird white powder you use to make meringues)

  1. Put the butter in a plastic cup and nuke for 30 seconds. When it’s done, pour it into a bowl with the egg, sugar, vanilla/almond extract. Make sure the butter isn’t hot enough to cook the egg though. You’ll know when that happens cuz it’s gross and lumpy and it smells. If that happens, start over.

  2. Mix the other dry stuff - flour, baking powder, tartar (such a funny word). FOLD this into the liquid mix - not all at once though, maybe in 3 batches. When your arm is too tired to stir any longer, you’re
    about done.

  3. Wrap that doughy sucker up in some seran wrap and stick it in the fridge for 2-3 hrs or the freezer for 30 min.

  4. Once it’s cold, prepare to roll it out for some cookie cutting fun. For this you’ll need a large cutting board and a rolling pin. Sprinkle some flour on the rolling pin and the board so that the dough doesn’t stick to it (I had to learn that the hard way). Roll out your dough, cut your shapes and prepare to decorate!

  5. I used Brach’s Cinnamon Hearts for mine. Here’s a cinnamon heart wallpaper if you love the candy as much as I do. Simply place them accordingly on the cookies. Smush them in a bit so they stay there.

  6. You’ll want to bake at 375 degrees for about 8-10 minutes a batch. After about 8-9 minutes, the hearts will start melting/exploding/leaking. If you want the results that I got, you have to wait the full 10 min until they do
that. If you take them out too early, they’ll be boring old decorated heart cookies and people might actually find them appetizing.

  7. Eat and enjoy. Serve them at your next LAN party.

And since I know you’re wondering where the comic books are… here’s a podcast I did with the guys from Comic Geek Speak. On their regular podcasts, they talk to all sorts of people in the industry, what’s new in the comic world, and have contests here and there. They were a fun bunch and you can listen to us talk about life as a Frag Doll, comic books, and old skool video games HERE.

And the final product…
