This week’s Ask a Doll is brought to you by Captain Crunch, the original one.
slickrick2345 asks - Indiana Jones or Han solo?
This may be the most difficult question I have ever answered. Even more difficult is the fact that both are played by Harrison Ford who is awesome beyond awesomeness. Even though Star Wars is my favorite movie ever, the Indiana Jones trilogy is a close second. But if I really had to choose, I would have to go with Indiana Jones since he’s both scholastic and adventurous. And ooh, check out those muscles! Hotness.
IversonXover83 asks - What’s your favorite Disney movie? I loved The Lion King back in the day.
Wow, another difficult question! I am a super Disney freak and am one of the only people I know who still goes to Disneyland more than once a year (actually Rhoulette does nowadays, too) and watches the Disney channel on a semi-regular basis. And I *think* I still know almost all the Disney songs by heart if you named one. I can’t narrow it down to one, so I’d have to list my top 5:
1. Enchanted - by far, my favorite movie last year. Amy Adams did an amazing job playing an overly perky Disney princess.
2. Beauty and the Beast - I believe this is still the only animated feature ever to be nominated for an Oscar for best picture. Beautiful story telling, memorable songs, and amazing animations for it’s time. I was totally blown away by this movie.
3. Pocahontas - A lot of people didn’t like this one, but I loved the way they drew the leading lady in this movie. The anti-fairy tale ending was really touching and I cry every time I watch it.
4. Who Framed Roger Rabbit - Revolutionary for it’s time, this movie brought together the real world and “toons”. I had a serious collection of Roger Rabbit memorabilia (even the video game!).
5. Mickey’s Christmas Carol - this actually scared me a bit when I was a kid. Maybe Goofy was a little too scary as a ghost?
Brimtown asks - Your mission: Pick any pre-NES game (Atari, Intellivision, etc). Re-invent it for the next-gen consoles. What game would you choose, and how would you go about reinventing it?
Easy - Dracula on the Intellivsion II.
The premise (from my Google search): You are Count Dracula. Rise from your resting place in the graveyard and fly into the night! Travel in two forms - as a man or a bat. You’ve got to sink your teeth into a victim soon. You’re growing paler and slowing down. Bite all the victims you can find, then return to your resting place before sunrise, or you’ll never hunt again!
Now that I think about it, this game was pretty ridiculous, but hilarious. In order to find your victims, you had to walk around this Sesame Street style neighborhood and knock on people’s doors. They would come out (ok, why would they come out in the middle of the night? Hello?) and you would chase them down the street and bite them. Most of the game was just roaming these neighborhoods late at night and making it back to your coffin before sunrise. It was simple, but fun.
I actually don’t know how much I would reinvent. I like the silliness of just knocking on people’s doors for them to come out and you to bite them. I’d probably make it look Sims style. You would definitely be able to customize Dracula - and maybe your victims too! Plus throw in some other elements like Buffy type enemies and some sort of gauge so that if you drank enough blood, you could become Super Dracula or something.
Phineas1382 asks - Do y’all ever play any casual games, and by that I mean simple PC games? And if so, which ones?
Man, I used to be a Sims addict. I pretty much have them all. But then I realized that I was doing the same things in the Sims games (eat, sleep, shower, be social) that I should be doing in real life. Pretty soon, I’d be doing things in real life and thinking “What’s my social meter like?” or “Gee, I think my environment level is low” and after that I sort of stopped.
Actually, I really got into Scrabble this past year as well. I bought 2 different versions of the game (not that the game itself is really any different), but I was on a mission to be able to play via LAN. I love real life Scrabble so this was awesome - built in timer, being able to type in the words, and best of all, NO CLEAN UP!!!
pauls_kind_wife asks - do you dolls have any pull to get playstation to make a pink controller? i mean, the x box gets all the cool stuff for girls! we need a pink one too is this too stupid of a question? cause i am serious! From what Ive read, FD seems to rep mostly xbox and pc right? It seems xbox has its head on straight when it comes to female gamers. PS3 hasnt noticed were here yet.
You’re totally right. It seems like a pink PS3 was announced a few years back, but maybe nothing happened because of low PS3 sales? And right now I haven’t seen a huge wave of “girl games” for the PS3 so the Sony people probably don’t think it’s worth it to put out some girl-centric gear? Maybe we’ll see some changes when more games come out. I wish there was something we could do, but sorry… can’t help much here.
But dang, it IS pretty, isn’t it?
LaDyKuNoiChi24 asks - Im about to start college soon and i was wondering what my major should be if i want to get into video game programming?
I actually went into Computer Science thinking that I wanted to do computer animation. Obviously not directly related so who knows what I was thinking. But now that I’m more aware, you will probably want to get into Computer Science. That’s where you’ll get a good foundation for programming. I would also take a Computer Animation class (either one where you’re coding the animation or using software like Maya). That was probably the most helpful class I took. And even if your school doesn’t offer specific gaming courses, you might want to find some summer courses elsewhere that are more specific to game programming. There are definitely schools out there that offer courses like that.
Mookel asks - If you were a monkey in a zoo, who would you throw your doody at?
If I were given the ability to even throw my doody without getting in trouble, I’d probably just throw it at everybody. Doody for everyone!
