All good things come to those who wait, and wait we have. The Frag Doll Cadette Academy has been in the works for years, but we have not had the resources to make it a reality until now. We’re thrilled to finally launch this new volunteer program which will give us more ways to recognize and work with the world’s wonderful female gamers.
One of the biggest drawbacks of constraining the Frag Doll team membership to no more than nine girls at a time is that there is a remaining wealth of passionate gamers who we can’t accommodate. Our Cadette Academy is intended to get those gamers involved so that they may benefit from the cool opportunities that come with being part of the Frag Doll family, and so that we can benefit from their creativity, talent, and boundless energy. On top of that, we love meeting other women who share our passions and interests, and the Cadette program will give us more chances to do so.
Here’s how it will work: Female gamers who want to participate in the program will be able to fill out a basic application form that will live on the dedicated Cadettes page of our website (currently in development). These applications will go through a vetting process and those who meet our standards will be put into the selection pool. Every six months we will do a RANDOM drawing of names from that pool to pick 10-12 Cadettes for that six month season. As members of that season’s “class” of Cadettes, they will have a bio on the Cadettes webpage, be invited to participate in online activities like guest blogs, Xbox Live gaming sessions, online ladder competitions, etc., and in some cases we may even be able to bring some of the Cadettes out to industry and game culture events around the country (travel expenses would be covered). All of these activities will be conducted on an optional volunteer basis, but our hope is that the girls who choose to participate will ideally gain invaluable experience with things like PR, marketing, and competition. We suspect each Cadette class will have a good amount of fun, too.
To make sure we can take full advantage of all the fun stuff happening in the next few months, we have already selected the Fall 2009 Class of Frag Doll Cadettes. We extended automatic invitations to the remaining five Finalists from our most recent Casting Call, and then filled out the other seven spots by selecting randomly from a pool consisting of our Casting Call Semi-Finalists and a few applicants who have set themselves apart in the months since the Casting Call. Here are the 12 Cadettes who have agreed to beta test our program for us (in alphabetical order):
Daniela (Gypsyfly PMS) Hannah (Shabutie) Jamie (jbots)
Kathleen (B00TY STAR) Kia (PMS Honey) Krystal (HOODLUMGIRLS)
Sarah (sarabellum) Sasha (NinjaChick) Tunesha (CHICKAMUNGUS)

Most of these girls will be at PAX in September so many of our community members will get the chance to meet them in person! Congrats and Good Luck to our Cadettes as we get all the kinks worked out of the program. We can’t wait to get to know all of you better!
