25 Random Things About the Frag Dolls
Feb 18, 7:24 pm

As you all know, I’m fond of social web trends, but instead of doing 25 Random Things about just myself, I figured it’d be more interesting to do it for the whole team. My girls will probably sweat bullets while reading this because I could list some hilarious random facts about them… good thing I’m so NICE.

1. There have been 12 total Frag Dolls over the four years of the team’s existence. Besides the current 7 Frag Dolls, our departed Frag Dolls of beloved memory include Katscratch, Eekers, Jinx, Calyber, and Mischief.
2. Our PR Manager is an awesome break dancer.
3. Between the 7 of us, our pets include 5 cats, 6 dogs, 2 snakes, 2 fish, and some sea monkeys.
4. More than half of us (me, BrookeLyn, Phoenix, and Psyche) met our significant others through video game related things.
5. All of the Frag Dolls have siblings: none of us are only children.
6. Both BrookeLyn and Valkyrie have twins.
7. Pyra goes to Spain every year with her father. The rest of us are jealous of her every time she goes.
8. I am the only vegetarian on the team. Everyone else is a carnivore.
9. Whenever a bunch of us travel together and go out to dinner, we always go out for Italian food. It’s the only thing that all of us can agree on.
10. Valkyrie and BrookeLyn always room together when they’re both at an event. They enable each other’s laziness. :b
11. Before we decided on the name “Frag Dolls”, we considered a few other names. The ones I remember were “Ballistic Betties” (cute, right?) and “Fox Force Live” (meh… one of the Ubi marketing guys came up with this as a play on “Fox Force Five” which was mentioned in Pulp Fiction).
12. I came up with the name Frag Dolls while half-asleep in the shower one morning. It was inspired by 3 things: rag doll physics, fragging (obviously; it’s what we do), and wanting our name to indicate that we’re an all-female team.
13. You’ll never hear Psyche use swear words. You will have a hard time NOT hearing Valkyrie use swear words.
14. We’ve got some good athletes on the Frag Doll team. Phoenix used to play Olympic-level soccer and currently kick boxes. I played NCAA Division 1 basketball in college, and Seppuku is a mad bballer, too. BrookeLyn did sprints in high school track. Psyche used to fence and box. We have 2 former cheerleaders on our team too, but I bet you can’t guess both of them on your 1st or 2nd try. wink
15. Psyche and BrookeLyn are both obsessed with reality TV.
16. I am always late (except for when it really, really counts). Valkyrie and BrookeLyn are never late, and thus they both regularly bust my proverbial balls about being chronically late.
17. Caffeine apparently makes Phoenix LESS hyper. Yes, we call that ADD, and we love her for it.
18. The first Ubisoft game we ever promoted was Ghost Recon 2. And I don’t mean GRAW2, I mean Ghost Recon 2. That’s OLD SCHOOL Clancy. So old school I kinda don’t even remember it. Hrm…
19. BrookeLyn, Valkyrie, and I have all been obsessed with the game Diner Dash at one point or another. I was first introduced to it at a Girls ‘n’ Games conference a couple years ago, then I showed it to Valkyrie, who then showed it to BrookeLyn. BrookeLyn loved it so much that she now has a PlayFirst subscription. Goes to show that good games spread like wild fire.
20. Psyche is our only Frag Doll who was hired while living on the East Coast (Brooklyn, New York!). Everyone else is from the West Coast or Texas.
21. BrookeLyn always takes baths, (almost) never showers. It’s her “Me time”.
22. Valkyrie loves romance novels and horror games.
23. When the Frag Dolls were initially founded (and sponsored) by Ubisoft, we were contracted employees. After a year of being together, they made us official part-time employees. Pretty sweet deal, huh? As far as we know, it’s a unique arrangement among sponsored pro gamers.
24. Pyra’s “day job” is working in IT for Citibank. Now THAT’s a true nerd for ya. (I’m saying that to get back at her for her latest Spain trip.)
25. Phoenix and her husband say that they had the first Xbox Live baby. There was an article claiming that some other couple who met on Xbox Live had the first one, but Phoenix’s son was already 2 years old at that point. Phoenix wins!

I have much more, but that’s 25 so I’ll stop there. Not too many juicy tidbits, but at least you know all of us a little bit better now.
