I have been a Frag Doll for almost 6 months - and every aspect of this experience has been new and exciting. From a team perspective, I’ve learned a lot about committing myself to my peers to help accomplish goals. From a career perspective, I’ve learned quite a bit about business in general. Plus, the major bonus in this as both a job and a passion is getting paid to play games. However, now that I have had some time to finally settle into my little nest, learn how things are done and familiarize myself with the demands of this team, I am ready to explore more interests.
As some of you might know, I am a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). It is a mere baby step toward a career in the medical field. I’m not ready to dive in head-first just yet. However, I am currently working at a really cool independent pharmacy in Texas so that I can learn more about patient care and drug therapy. This pharmacy not only does double the retail work flow of some Walgreens and CVS stores, we also have a compounding department. Compounding is the process of mixing drugs and other ingredients to create hard-to-find products. For instance, if a patient can’t swallow pills or has stomach or liver problems, they can have a lollipop or cream compounded especially for them. Also, we do sterile compounding which includes I.V. bags, injections, and chemo drugs.
With 2 weeks under my belt at this store, I already feel right at home. What’s even cooler (because I am a complete Grey’s Anatomy freak) is that we are required to wear scrubs! I have them in blue, black, teal and maroon. They’re like pajamas with pockets and I love to play games in my pajamas so its only fitting that my second job allows me the same comfort. I’ve been scrub shopping online and found some adorable Katherine Heigl sets (aka, Doctor Izzie Stevens). I just fear that my spare money will go toward a million scrubs. At least I’ll have plenty of comfy clothes to play games in when I get home from work.
