I’ve lived in Dallas since 8th grade and throughout Middle School, High School and College I’ve collected some good friends. However, as time slips by, you end up losing touch with some people and meeting other people. Well, in my case, I stopped meeting other people around town because I was either traveling or in front of my PC or Xbox 360 (you know, the stereotypical antisocial gamer who calls people by their alias and doesn’t know about the cool new places to party in the city). On the flip side, because of my involvement, both competitively and socially, with gaming networks (much like the community that surrounds Frag Dolls and PMS Clan), I’ve made some great friends that I talk to on a day-to-day basis. To make it even better, these friends have lived or currently live around Dallas. When I wasn’t living with Valkyrie and her twin (and past roommate, Mischief), I was visiting the twins every other month. Since then, my good friend Lady PMS packed up and shipped out of Nebraska to live where everything is bigger. Also, Aliki and V3nus said goodbye to their East Coast and West Coast nests to settle down in gamer central. I can’t forget to mention Decoy (my best guy friend), Meow, Snake, Minuet, Guillbeau, Double B, Garbage, DangerDoll, and Freyja. Soon enough, I won’t have to drive more than 5 miles in any direction to run into someone I totally adore.
I bring this up because I just had such an incredible weekend with a lot of these aforementioned people. As Valkyrie explained, we had quite an eventful time. Dallas isn’t the right cup of tea for those who grew up in places like NYC, San Diego or San Fran, but it’s surely a cool city and homely place to live. And if you’re a gamer, tournaments and conventions roll through here every other month (except for the summer season, at which time they pop up every few weeks). I could go on and on, but nothing makes Dallas better than the friends that live here with me. My non-gamer and my gamer friends alike. I’m a happy Dallasite.
