I’m happy to say that this is my last year as a student at St. Francis College. That’s right ladies and gentleman, soon (well if you consider 2008 soon) I will be graduating! But before I even consider that, I have to work on a my thesis paper. Dun dun duuunnnnn! A whole year of researching, studying and coming up with a unique idea to test out.
Before my class even started I was thinking about what I wanted to do. I really wanted to combined two of my passions: video games and psychology. I didn’t quite know how to do it until I asked Rhoulette. She sparked an idea in my head that got me thinking about competitive gaming. I’m not exactly sure how I’m going to conduct my experiment, but I have some ideas that I plan on testing out.
Before I think about conducting it I have to do TONS of research on video games and sports psychology articles. I’m not talking about the small articles that you read in the paper. I have to read tons of journal articles with a million and one references and yada yada yada. Researching is a pain in the booty, but it is something that I have to do. I found some interesting studies done using video games. They are pretty easy to find online if you search by name.
Here are some examples of the articles that i found that concern video games:
- Video games and the future of learning
- Action video games and selective attention
- Action video games reduces gender differences
- Using video games undergraduate education
If any of you fellow gamers have heard of any other cool video game studies please point them my way.
Game on!
