For the past few months my boyfriend has been raving about the same game. It’s been, “Call of Duty 4 this and Call of Duty 4 that!” He drove me crazy! It’s not that I didn’t enjoy playing the past Call of Duty games, it’s just that after seeing and hearing about COD 3 I didn’t think anything special would emerge from the sequel. Boy, was I wrong!
Even though I didn’t expect much from the game, I was still a little excited to try out the multiplayer beta. I managed to register on the site, so that I could get a code for it. At first, I wasn’t sure I would get in because it looked like they had already distributed the key codes, and the website kept shutting down for maintenance. Still, that didn’t stop me from constantly checking my e-mail to see if I got in. After days of anticipation, I finally got my code! I downloaded the beta, then got on Rainbow Six: Vegas to practice with the girls. I didn’t have time to play the COD 4 beta that day.
The day I finally got to play was a free day! I had nothing to do but game, and that’s all I did for 8 hours straight. I played the heck out of the beta till I ranked up to 11, which was the cap at the time (now it’s 16). I had a great time playing against other players and figuring out which perk went well with which class. The best part of the game is being able to customize your class. I created and named 3 classes which are:
Burst Assault: M16 with red dot attachment.
- Perk 1 – 3x stun
- Perk 2 – Deep impact (more bullet penetration)
- Perk 3 – Stopping power (more bullet damage)
Auto Assault: M4 Carbine (designed in blue tiger print) with Red dot attachment
- Perk 1 – 3x stun
- Perk 2 – Deep impact
- Perk 3 – Stopping power
Semi Assault: MP5 with red dot attachment
- Perk 1 – RPG with 2 rockets
- Perk 2 – Deep impact
- Perk 3 – Stopping power
The COD 4 Beta is fast-paced and keeps you on your toes. Some of the best features of the multiplayer are the UAV, air strike and helicopter. Getting 3 kills in a row will give you 30 seconds of seeing the enemy on your radar, getting 5 kills in a row will get you an air strike to any position on the map, and getting 7 kills in a row gets you your own personal helicopter that shoots at enemies when they’re in the copter’s sights. It’s cool because there are ways of countering these also!
If you happen to have the beta, let me know so we can get our game on—otherwise, I’ll just see you online when it comes out!
