After months and months of resistance my co-workers at GameStop finally convinced me to try their addiction, World of Warcraft. I was expecting to play the game once and dispose of it the next day, but I could not help but get on every time I had the chance and increase my stats.
This is my first MMORPG so I was a total noob at it. I decided to start basic, human paladin (or what some might call Pally) which is not too complex or so I have been told. Leveling up was so easy the first day but began to be a hassle when you get further in the game. Since I was having trouble leveling, I decided to begin doing quests. I would try and ask people for help whenever I was lost. Luckily, I was placed on a friendly server and got a lot of good people to help me out on where to go and what to do for certain quests. But the addiction part of this game didn’t come until H2O Digital joined me on my server. He is an experienced MMO player who has played “EverQuest” and “Final Fantasy XI”. He helped me out on my strategy and on what I should do to level up. He even helped me build my MMO slang. Now I know what Voke, Aggro, Tank, and Buff are. I went from a casual WOW player to an addict. Each night I logged on I set a goal of leveling up a certain amount before I would go to sleep, and I have lost a lot of my sleep time to this game.
I’ve been playing for about a week now and I’m a level 13 human pally. I enjoy taking risks in this game just like I do in GRAW. I try to face the impossible. Even though I try to take on higher level enemies than myself, I use my magic right and I end up getting a lot of experience though I sometimes die. I have not gotten the chance to be in a huge party or engage in a battle with a guild but that is something that I’m looking forward to in the future.
