Hey everyone! The other night, the girls and I were at a cool LAN center called Inetgamerz in Kissimmee, Florida. We were there with our coolest gaming buddies, the PMS clan, and one of the pro teams, VVV. It was such a great experience having everyone there and exchanging strats back and forth. I know a lot of us learn a great deal about how to improve as a player when playing on LAN. It really is a different ball park offline because a lot of situations differ from what would happen online.
At first, it took me a while to get used to playing on LAN. When you’re playing online you adjust to playing with lag and you tend to shoot in a different style in order to optimize your skills. But since connection problems are less of an issue on LAN, you have to train yourself to play differently. This is where a lot of teams who come from strictly online competitions have a lot of issues. They play the exact same and end up paying the price. This is the key reason why LAN play is important before a competition. Training your hands and brain to adjust to it will get your ready to dominate.
A great point that Pyra brought up is that after a tournament, playing on LAN is essential. Think about it. After playing against several teams and learning from them, it’s important to maintain the LAN playing style and focus on countering the things that got you killed or that the other team did better than you. But most importantly, going over flaws in your strats to patch them up and learning from your mistakes will help a great deal.
