By now everyone on the internet either has a Twitter account or knows someone who does. Twitter has become one of the most popular social networking sites on the web. Personally, I have always been a huge fan of how simple and fun Twitter is. It’s the best place to update my friends on interesting or FML moments in my life. But is that all Twitter has to offer? Not quite.

Assassins Creed has taken Twitter and created an interactive experience where fans of the game and Twitter users can target each other and level up to become a Master Assassin.

“The game will utilize Twitter by issuing match assignments to players who have registered at www.assassinscreed.com/twitter, and from there players will have a small window of opportunity to perform a number of different attacks, counters, or escapes through Twitter itself.

A player’s profile page shows rank, available weapons, overall score and more.

Games are assigned by game masters, via @replies, who will issue players an amount of time they have to complete an assassination on another player (follow @assassinscreed for all assassination updates). Keywords such as chop, hack, carve and others are automatically picked up by game masters, and they will also notify players of their success (or failure) in attempted assassinations.
Players will also be able to enter into Aggressive Mode play via the Assassin’s Creed II Twitter Experience site listed above. This mode runs entirely through the site, and doesn’t require players to follow assassination assignments. Players will be able to attack up to five enemies at once, as well as defend against five potential assassinations in Aggro Mode. This mode looks similar to the Visualizer, but requires players to pay close attention to attacks and counters in order to survive.”

Each player has their own profile where they can go into aggro mode, check their assassins ranking, change twitter settings etc.
