Oh how lovely life is with all of the technology that we have all around us. I think a lot of us just can’t imagine living without internet access, cell phones, and our personal computers. Even the thought of being without our consoles is a scary (sorry for the horrible mental image)! But even though we have all of these wonderful things, they can sometimes go terribly wrong. Like when your computer crashes or won’t start and you don’t have anyone to turn to but customer service.
What is the job of customer service? Well, it’s pretty self explanatory. Their job is to serve the customer, also known as us. Yay! Sounds great, right? WRONG! We get automated voice recordings, inconsistent rules and regulations, verbal harassment, and a major headache. One of my most memorable experiences was when I called my cable company for internet help. I was about 16 at the time so I was fairly young (still am) and didn’t know much about tech stuff. I tried my hardest to explain to the customer service representative what the problem was, but he sounded like he was super annoyed with me. He began to snicker at me and belittle me. It was terrible! What I should have done was complain about him to his superiors, but I didn’t know much, I was just a kid.
On the other hand, I have gotten some good help and from customer service and some actual SERVICE. Recently, I have had some issues with my phone bill and it was easily resolved. My bill was adjusted and everything was dandy in my world.
I want to know your best and worst experiences with customer service. Let’s share our pain together.
Game on!
