Last weekend thanks to Naruto: The Broken Bond, I got to attend the New York Anime Festival which was held at the Jacob Javits center. This was only its second year and I could already see the potential of this up and coming convention. It was probably the smallest event that I have attended all year, and it was full of hard core anime fans that blew me away with their Naruto knowledge and tons of dedicated Cosplayers from comics, animes and even video games.
People who dress up in Cosplay fascinate me. I think it takes a lot of courage to dress up like your favorite character for an event while walking around the city and having people look at your because they simply “don’t get it”. But I have to give credit to the people who don’t EVER break character at these events. If you even try to say something along the lines of “No really, tell me what your real name is” they would never let up. Now that, my friends, is what I call dedication.
One of the coolest things I saw at this event was a booth full of different metal weapons that were derived from video games, animes, and comics. They were so perfectly crafted and done to the tee, especially the Halo 2/3 sword that I got to pick up and wave around. If someone got to close to me, I might have stabbed them with it which is a good indication to you guys on how sharp it is. I took a picture of it with my camera phone. If I had lots of money to spend freely I totally would have bought it. But I don’t trust myself with sharp objects near people.
Since I was a bit out of my element (I am not big on anime), I decided to get a kitty hat to blend in with the crowd. The cool thing about the hat is not only can I wear it at comic/anime conventions, but I can also use it for the winter time!
Here are some more pictures I took at this event of people dressed up in Cosplay and some people who got to demo Naruto: The Broken Bond for their first time. During one of the days I attended we had a whole group of Naruto fans watching this one dedicated demoer try and get through the game. It was sweet.

Sweetest Robot Chicken costume I have ever seen. This guy had it down perfectly!
More people at the Ubisoft Booth getting their Naruto fix.
Costume of the ghost from Spirited Away. This costume was about 7 feet tall.

Hope to have more adventures soon! Game on and see you guys at the community game night!
