You heard me right folks! D3 Publisher has announced Puzzle Quest 2 and is planning to be released in the spring of 2010. If you are a huge fan of the original Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, then this news should excite you as it did me. Although this news is very exciting, I still have my reservations since the last PQ released, Puzzle Quest: Galactrix was an ultimate FAIL!
Puzzle Quest 2 will return to its roots and continue with the match-three mechanics. They are getting rid of the hexagonal board from Galactrix and bringing back the original puzzle board from Challenge of the Warlords which makes me a happy camper. The game features a story mode, instant action mode, multiplayer modes, and a tournament mode. You will have the option to choose between 4 classes- War Mage, Inquisitor, Barbarian, and Assassin.
New Puzzle Quest 2
If you have never played Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords here is a quick run down. Puzzle Quest is a classic puzzle-game action with an epic story of good versus evil. Players choose between four characters with each having their own combat ability, morale, and magical affinity. You take on quests during the campaign where combat is conducted entirely via turn-based puzzle action. You can also battle your friends in multiplayer action which is one of my favorite parts in the game. To sum it all up it is a puzzle game (similar to Bejeweled) with role-playing elements.
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords
When Puzzle Quest: Galactrix was released early this year, I was ecstatic. It was supposed to be similar to the original PQ but with a space theme and a few added elements. So I thought SWEET, I love Puzzle Quest and I love space, so putting them together could only be good. I downloaded it straight from the marketplace for a hefty 1600 MS pts without even playing the demo first which ended up being a stupid mistake. They had tried adding a whole new twist to Galactrix by changing the puzzle game from square to hexagonal, the characters were limited to either male or female pilots, and the overall storyline was LAME. Take my advice; AVOID this Galactrix if you want to save yourself the pain of a bad game and some money.

As a huge fan of the first game, but then becoming a huge enemy of the second game, I am hoping number three will draw me right back in where the first one left off. After seeing the screenshots, I am optimistic it will! Game on peeps!
