Oh Where Oh Where Has My Borderlands Gone? Oh Wait Here It Is.
Nov 04, 10:00 am

BorderlandsMy new addiction has fast become Borderlands, and I’m sure there are many who feel the same as I do about this new game.

The look alone is worth a thousand words. Its grainy yet sharp and artistic, almost like a comic book. It even feels a bit like a Tarantino movie. They have managed to create what I think Wet was trying to do. So often you are put in a game as a good hero that does what it takes to save the world, or the universe, but here you are the Byronic hero of the dystopian world. A Byronic hero, who has no problem will annihilating people.

The missions are varied and range from your basic repair missions to taking out that nasty bandit. Probably one of the most fun ones is the roadkill missions, what more fun can you have as you customize your vehicle with your favorite color and weapons, and your character laughs hysterically with pure joy as you run over a Scag, or a bandit. I do have to say that it was crazy the first time I heard it, but oddly it adds to the game. While you’re shooting your way through a group of enemies and your character laughs saying “I’m so good at this”.

Let’s talk weapons. There are so many throughout the game, each one better then the next. A sniper rifle that sets fire to the person it hits. Awesome! Not to mention that the weapons get better as you level up, making the task of getting to use that next weapon so much more fulfilling. They evolve just like your character does. I think I read somewhere that there are over 100,000 different types of weapons in the game. How cool is that. You aren’t stuck to just your basic shotgun, sniper rifle, or machine gun. This only adds to making the game play exciting.

Oh the enemies, I can’t forget those.  The enemies are challenging and just as crazy as the weapons. You have the ability to see just how dangerous an enemy is so that you can avoid it and come back later at a higher level. But who doesn’t love a psycho midget wielding a shotgun that knocks him on his butt after he shoots and he squeaks with a high pitch voice. Or the Scags. There are so many different types, Fire Scags, Bad Ass Scags, and Elder Scags just to name a few, and it takes more and more to defeat each one. The best is that you can use them to your advantage in the game. Lure them to an area with a lot of enemies and they will attack them and eliminate a lot of your problems.

So these are just a few of my favorite things with Borderlands. What are yours?
Also, I have not had a chance to play Co-op, so anyone interested in playing hit me up on XBL, gamertag: PH0ENiX FD
