Independence Day: Washington Edition
Jul 04, 1:40 pm

I have been living in Seattle for a little over a year now and while I love living here, holidays can make me really miss home. Last year I flew out on Independence Day for WSVG Dallas, so I didn’t really get a chance to miss my family since I was traveling. The typical Louisiana 4th celebration would usually consist of copious amounts of Bud Light, turducken and maybe some crawfish etouffe. Add in a trampoline with a sprinkler and some soap and you have a party! I’m also used to fireworks being legal, even in city limits. I used to have to tranquilize my horses because they would freak out all night if I didn’t!

This year, however fun, I think is going to be quite a change! Max and I are heading over to E’s house for a sweet BBQ. It’ll be pork, side dishes, salad and cheesecake… I guess only partially clogged arteries for this 4th of July! The video games will abound in replacement of fireworks. I have no doubt that there will be the singing and Rock Band late into the night, as well as epic Halo and R6V2 battles. The greatest comfort to me, is not only will I have Max there, but PMS girls, some Gamer Chix, and of course a sprinkling of FD community with Stonelance (that’s right Stone, I shall call you Sprinkle from now on). All and all, however different, I think it will be a great tradition begun and continued for many years to come.
