When playing online, as a girl we all know by now that we can get harassed by guys with such comments as “only fat girls play games” or “ you can’t get a date.” Sometimes, the eloquent spraying of random curse words is even applied. The more rarely heard, but still my favorite is “go back to the kitchen and make me a sandwich.” While meant to make me feel like less of a human being, in reality I love to go and make, among many other things, sandwiches! 

Comments, like the always popular fat-girl ones, are hard to even find a little humor in because they are offensive on so many levels. People’s definitions through time have varied on what is considered fat, and what someone’s physical appearance has to do with gaming, I’ll never know - but that’s a whole other blog!!! ; ) The ‘go back to the kitchen’ remark, however, makes me laugh and laugh. I have few things in life that I am middle of the road about, as far as hobbies. I either love doing something or I don’t want to do it at all. Gaming, reading, fishing, horses, camping, and cooking are things I really, REALLY enjoy doing. Cooking is something that is easy for me to enjoy on a daily basis; unlike say camping or fishing, I get to do it with no complaints from anyone! I would rather stay at home and make artichokes with a lemon butter sauce or a tomato salad with carrots lime and basil, or just good ol’ rice and gravy like my Dad makes, than go out to dinner.

My love of cooking has recently branched out to baking. I have always been able to make simple things like cookies, or cherry pie, but I have started to be more interested in making things that take a bit more of a challenge. I never really got into baking because I didn’t want to keep the results around; otherwise going to the gym was going to be pointless. Max pointed out that Bungie has plenty of guys that would love to take my baking efforts off my hands. So with that in mind, I happily dove into spending days of baking with my awesome new mixer, a monstrous 22 lb, pink Kitchen Aid stand mixer that also serves as a meat grinder, ice cream maker, slicer, and pasta maker! This is like the coolest thing EVER to me! Next time you hear some little online rat tell a girl to go make a sandwich, remember there are some of us who would gladly make even more if they just asked nicely!
