The Frag Doll community, I have come to learn, is as similar to a large family as any group of people I have encountered. On Saturday Night, Stonelance had a get together with Max, Kari (The Don Wan) Gasca, Mr. Nutty, Phineas, Chrissie, and me. The night included Scene It, Trivial Pursuit, beer and pizza. I haven’t felt so at home with a group of people since I moved to Seattle nine months ago. I’ve always felt a little homesick for the faces and places I grew up with. Gaming and gamers alike breed a general sense of camaraderie, but I think the people involved in our community have a special relationship.
There have been some major fights and jokes on the forums since I have become a Frag Doll; I can only imagine all the things I’ve missed. I feel like no matter where life takes me, I will never forget how at home I have felt since I became involved with everyone here. Seattle would have been a very cold and lonely place without my friends: Brookie Monster; Stonelance, who gets his Trivial Pursuit answers from his hand-claw; Mr. Nutty posing with an ex-gladiator in a pink candidate shirt; Phin beating me and Max by 39 points in Scene It and totally gloating; the ever adorable “Preggers FD”; Expo, who even though he was on a business trip a few weeks ago, made time to meet up for dinner and a movie.
While I’m being sentimental, I should mention that the other Frag Dolls have made an enormous impact on my life. Even the women behind the scenes, like Nikki who is forever “dealing” with us, or Melanie who fights so hard for us and what we believe in. I know this has been somewhat mushy, but in light of some recent forum fights I want to remind everyone of Calyber’s Xbox motto: “be excellent to each other.” Truer words were never spoken (I don’t care if it came from Bill and Ted, LOL). I just wanted to remind everyone of what we have here and how great it is.
