PCXL
Sep 04, 7:08 am

Back in July PC Gamer released a video podcast behind-the-scenes of our photoshoot for a very special issue (and I don’t mean that in the shortbus sense) of PC Gamer.  Everyone got a chance to see us FAR outside our normal habitat which, if we were in a zoo, would consist mainly of a couch, tv, and mini fridge.  Look, kids! Gamers in their natural environment. Don’t get too close to the ones the foam at the mouth.

We got scrubbed clean, and made up classy-like. And then we got chucked in front of a camera. Unlike cats, which tend to look really grumpy when you try to clean them up for pictures, we had a lot of fun brandishing guns, swords, and crowbars.  Some people were concerned to see us in shorts, and I guess I can understand that since my legs have the super human ability to blind people who look at the paleness too long. You have been warned.  Regardless of the effect on other peoples’ vision, I’ve rarely had that much fun. I don’t get glammed up often, and it felt like being a little girl again and playing dress-up, except the clothes fit this time!

Of course we’ve been excited to see the magazine since the photoshoot, and now the magazine is out! This isn’t just any issue either. This is PCXL, the long-mourned irreverent magazine given an opportunity at new life for this 3-month lifestyle issue put together by the editors of PC Gamer.  This magazine isn’t going out to subscribers so if you want a copy--and you do, because it’s not just about us, it’s also about gamer fashion, game cakes (delicious!), nerd toys, tchotchkes (I had to look up the spelling on that word from the magazine itself), and more--you’ll have to get off your butt and pick one up at the store when you’re making a snack run or going for coffee.

I’m not going to spoil the feature itself by posting pictures, because that’s a no-no and then you wouldn’t have to go buy it to see it, but I do get to post the cover so you know what you’re looking for when you go to pick it up, which you definitely want to. smile

See? Awesome? Yeah, I’m pretty stoked about it. :D

Oh, and you have to pick up the issue to know whether we’d choose between free games for life or free shoes for life.  We got asked the tough questions.
