With my first Comic-Con experience under my belt, (ConSARS, sleep deprivation, and enough aches and pains feeling like I ran a marathon to prove it) I felt I just needed a good relaxing night to be alive for my next event. Luckily tonight in NC there was a band of storms rolling through with a flash flood warning to boot. Loving storms and a good lightning show I was super excited. So instead of feeling like I have been completely steamrolled, I decided to relax with my boyfriend and my best friend, Ashley (which flew in from Oregon just to see me!!!) and watch the storms pass through.
With a brilliant stroke of genius I decided to put the ottoman and end piece of the couch (we have a sectional) on the covered front porch so we could relax outside and catch a front row seat to the light show. Mother Nature did not disappoint either. Lightning flashing all around, rumblings of thunder in the distance, a cool southern breeze passing through and the rain just missing us to the south we lucked out with a perfect night. The cloud to cloud lightning rivaled any light show I have ever seen and I could just sit back and enjoy a show which cost me nothing to see.
As I am writing you this I can’t help but to be amazed at some of the simpler things in life. To be able to enjoy every day is a virtue that a lot of people can take for granted. From a huge convention of 126,000 people only a day before in San Diego, CA to sitting on my front porch watching a storm with 2 people that I care so much about in Concord, NC, it almost seems as if I am 2 different people. I am Lanai, a small town girl from Florence, OR who loves the small town lifestyle and I am Fidget, a Frag Doll who enjoys the awesome conventions, lavish parties and a crazy fast paced life.
What I am actually getting at here is that I am grateful for everything I have and have been able to do in life and I am going to take it one day at a time. Enjoy life to the fullest and remember LG(Life’s Good!)
