I think we all have at one point played with trading cards growing up. I myself was addicted to Pokemon cards growing up and have recently started getting back into my obsession. Being stubborn the way I am and with anything associated with games or having to be the best I was the worst person in the world to trade cards with. I swindled the kids in my neighborhood bad and gave them all the common cards for all of their rares. I know I know it was wrong of me but hey its their own fault for trying to trade Pokemon cards with a 24 year old gamer girl… (HAHA).
Its kind of difficult picking back up on this trading card game. There are literally thousands of characters now to learn and so many different sets to choose from. I collected cards from the original Generation One which consisted of Red, Green, Blue, and Pikachu. My favorite Pokemon cards were Mew and Mewtwo and I had about all 151 cards from the original set. Now there are 4 more generations to learn and collect on and let me tell you its exhausting. I’ve lost all my original cards over the years which makes me sad but I guess that means I get to try and collect all the originals all over again!!

Pokemon was absolutely huge when it first was introduced in the United States in 1998 but the craze really started 3 years earlier from a Gameboy game called “Pocket Monsters” in Japan. It was so successful over there that they decided to release it to the rest of the world and shortened the name to Pokemon. Once it hit United States waters the insanity began and TV shows and Movies were released along with many games, and companies like Burger King jumped on the Bandwagon as well. To this date there were 669 episodes released of Pokemon and its still going strong all over the world.
Maybe Pokemon wasn’t your obsession but all I know is i’m definately feeling like a little kid all over again with trying to collect these cards. I’m in New York right now writing this blog and I can’t wait until tomorrow because i’m heading to the nearest trading card shop and seeing what I can find before my flight back to the west coast!! Who knows maybe you will remember what trading card game you were addicted to as a child and get that same feeling you had when opening those packs to see what you got. Alrighty gamers til next time game on or trade on!!
