For so many years we have seen First Person Shooters or shooters in general evolve into entertaining and beautiful games, from the very beginning with games like Wolfenstein 3D and Doom to Duke Nukem and Golden Eye, shooters have become more than just fun and games. Shooters have evolved into professional sport, as well as gaming in general. For so many years games were looked at as child’s play. Now as gaming companies have tapped into a market which has endless capabilities, many have realized gaming can be for everyone. Now gaming has become on of the fastest growing industries in the world! With such a high demand developers are pushed to their limits and almost expected now to release a new title every year. With that said, if you have a major franchise such as Halo, COD or Ghost Recon it is a requirement just to keep up with the competition and keep the general public interested.
So the new lineup of shooters looms on the horizon. After last years disappointments, in regards to professional gaming, it has never looked better. With Call of Duty: Black Ops, Halo: Reach and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier all having strong competitive possibilities and high hopes, I can’t help but to be a little excited. I will have to admit I am extremely excited for Call of Duty: Black Ops, from my previous enjoyment of World at War and the fact that this is another installment from TreyArch. So here’s the details.(At least what I can divulge)
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Black Ops is being developed by TreyArch. It will focus on Black Ops teams who infiltrate areas behind enemy lines during the Cold War. While nothing has been confirmed it appears that the game will see players trudging through the snow in the Soviet Union, shooting their way through the jungles of South America and Vietnam, flying high above the planet in a reconnaissance plane and infiltrating Castro’s strongholds in Cuba.
Now we don’t know if the LAN settings will be fixed for this game, since the last Call of Duty EPIC FAILED with that aspect. In which now we are seeing MW2 gradually fade away…
Halo: Reach
In “Halo: Reach,” players experience the fateful moments that forged the “Halo” legend. It’s the story of Noble Team, a squad of heroic Spartan soldiers, and their final stand on planet Reach, humanity’s last line of defense between the terrifying Covenant and Earth. This darker story is echoed by grittier visuals amid a backdrop of massive, awe-inspiring environments. Characters, enemies and environments are rendered in amazing detail by an all-new engine designed to deliver epic-scale encounters against the cunning and ruthless Covenant. Once the campaign is over, the battle continues online with an unparalleled multiplayer experience that expands on the award-winning suite of features that helped define the Xbox LIVE experience.
From experience of the original Halo and playing the demo of Halo Reach, I hope that this one will become a success and leave lastng memories like Halo 1 and 2 has for me in the past.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
(previously known as Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon 4)] is a 3rd person shooter published by Ubisoft and due for release in 2010. Excluding expansions, it is the fifth installment in the Ghost Recon series, and was announced to be in development by Ubisoft on January 22, 2009
The story has yet to be revealed, but it is known from a live action trailer that a major part of the game will take place in Russia and Norway against a fictional ultranationalist force.
Gamebattles have announced the registry of this game for upcoming competitive play, so keep your fingers crossed. I know us Dolls are looking forward to pwning some noobs and representing Ubisoft when the time comes. J

With these shooters at our doorstep, there are so many to choose from. I guess that means a lot of late nights, extra batteries, energy drinks and of course extra controllers(not very different than any other day for me), I know sometime I’m going to get frustrated and controllers will meet their impending doom.
