I was taking a stab at GRAW on PC a couple days ago when my cat, Sammy Jenkis’ Wife (Sammy for short), rushes into my room meowing, walking in circles and bashing her head into my leg. She’s a very talkative cat, but this was just obnoxious. Instead of ignoring her like I usually do, I gave into her annoying puuursistence (RDR^2) and let her out on the balcony. As I began my ascent up the stairs, I heard a thud on the roof and an irritating loud chirp from the backyard. I put GRAW on hold a little longer as I walked out to see what was going on.
To my astonishment there was a squirrel perched on the balcony rail chirping at Sammy. Sammy didn’t look worried or threatened; she slowly walked toward the squirrel making short, cute kitty noises. I stood in the doorway, dumbfounded, as I watched my cat talk with her new squirrel-friend. After a few minutes of this, Jangles (it took me a whole 3 seconds to name the squirrel) noticed me in the doorway and jumped off the balcony onto the fence, and then flew into a pine tree.
Sammy walked around the balcony, continuing to speak her cute kitty language. It almost reminded me of the language spoken in The Land of Anthracks, which is where little Calyboo lives in my Animal Crossing game. I’m pretty sure their adorable bubbly language is why I continue playing the game (cuz it sure ain’t the action packed storyline!). The great thing about Animal Crossing, the game’s entire purpose is the fun little side quests. Usually I make up own side-missions in games anyway. I concentrate only on mining gold in Gun, killing towns and storing their pilfered goods in my wolf carcass in Oblivion, or picking helicopter flowers till my money purse is full in Kameo.
Speaking of cool game languages, Star Fox DS has a neat new feature that lets you record samples of your own voice which are then tweaked to create the voices of your squadron; nothing spectacular, but fun and interesting nonetheless. Pac and my Ben are down in the garage playing legos with a new shelving unit we just got. I think they’re almost done. Such strong handsome guys! Think they’ll ever make a shelf building video game? (yeah, me either)
