Just Imagine
Apr 25, 11:20 am

I was going to write a blog about the Imagine series DS title, Master Chef, and pretend I thought it was called “Master Chief,” but upon doing a Google search about the game I realized that joke has been told by half the people reviewing it.  Oh well.  That would be cool if they had a DS game called Master Chief.  What they ought to do is take all the existing Imagine games and create parallel titles with Master Chief.  There’d be Master Chief Chef, Spartan Babyz, Armor Fashion Designer, etc.  Yeah, that’d be so cool.

I’d recommend Master Chef if you’re between the ages of 6 and 13. At 23, things like moon angels possessing toy bunnies and saying things like, “By the blessing of Virluna, heed my call, O Light…” don’t really do it for me.  They definitely didn’t design this game with me in mind.  Then again, I’m sure if I was 8 years old I’d probably love it.  And if I had the patience to sit through the possessed bunny storyline, I’d probably learn a lot about being a Master Chef.  By the time we’re all 40 years old (or 60 for some of us), these kids growing up with self-improvement and learning games are going to be like super humans.  Imagine all these little 12 year olds preparing three course meals for the family – now that’s a well spent $30.

Mmm, the cupcakes on the front are making me so hungry!

Now if you’re like me, you’re going to buy Babyz because of the burning curiosity and long nights wondering what a game titled Babyz can possibly be about.  If for nothing else, Babyz is enticing because of the cute little wads of chub staring at you on the cover.  Man, they’re cute!  The premise of the game is that you’re staying at your granny’s house, getting paid to babysit.  You play games with the babies, feed them, buy them outfits and toys, take them for walks in the garden, and even customize your granny’s house.  The entire Imagine series for the DS is aimed at young girls.  The Babyz game can’t hold my attention for very long, but my little niece would LOVE IT.  I’m thinking I need to convince my brother to buy her a DS just so she can play these games.
