I’m a pro Wii Tennis player. Being a pro at Wii tennis means I’ve taken breaks out of working on websites during the day (since I work at home) and I’ve reached the 1000 mark on the graph. It’s a really exciting feeling when you’ve won a tennis match and your graph pops up showing your line finally hitting the 1000 mark. I stuck both fists high in the air with my head bowed and said in a low intense voice, “Tennis Prooooooooooooooooooo…” But instead of stopping and being satisfied with pro status, I kept playing.
Knowing the joy that came with the 1000 mark, you can only imagine what I felt when I hit 2000. I almost slipped on the wood floor when I landed from jumping off the couch and twirling in the air. My line was now at the tip top of the graph. That was it for tennis; I had progressed as far as possible. Before I put away the Wii remote and went back to work, I wondered what would happen if I played one more game. Where would my line go? Would the graph extend to show a 3000 mark? Would the line go out of the graph and off into oblivion? I figured it would probably stay there at the top and level off.
When I came back to play again, I stared down Elisa and Sarah, my opponents, with fierceness. In a single match I couldn’t let the opposing team score more than two points or else I would get a negative score. It no longer mattered that I won, I had to win with greatness. The stadium was filled with cheering Miis ready to erupt with applause or aww’s. It was my serve. After a few hits back and forth, I miscalculated and wacked the ball off to the left of the court, way out of bounds. When a ball is out of bounds, the computer Mii will almost always go for it if the ball is traveling high and slow enough. I couldn’t believe it when Elisa sprung into the air flying toward the misguided ball I had just hit. The spectators looked confused when she landed in the stadium, in a seat next to Peter’s mom.
She was stuck! More amazing than that, she had hit the ball mid-air on her way to taking a seat in the rafters and it was flying back at me! Since Elisa was taking a break from the game, it was really easy to score a point. Sarah was so confused by the whole thing that she didn’t even go for the ball when I hit it back onto their side of the court. Elisa decided to join us again at the beginning of the next serve.
After winning the game, I was brought back to my beloved graph. The line looked like it had slightly risen above the graph. I couldn’t really tell so I played another game and won. It had! The line was coming out of the graph. I kept playing and winning and soon the line was up into the words near the top of the page. What an achievement! I better get back to work now.
