I’m a Frag Doll
May 19, 11:26 pm

I’ll just come right out and say it. I’m a Frag Doll. Have you ever tried drinking from a fire hose? Me either. But this past week was the closest I’ll [probably] ever get to being knocked off my feet by a solid stream of events and people.

E3 was overflowing with games, people, sounds, and stunning environments. I’ve never seen or encountered so much constant intensity from my surroundings. Quite a sensory experience, let me tell you. I’ll admit I was a bit overwhelmed and nervous about being interviewed by random journalists and other TV spokespeople, but by the end of the second day everything seemed to flow rather smoothly. I even did a couple demos for Enchanted Arms on camera. A beautiful woman accompanied by a camera man strolled up to my Enchanted Arms booth and asked if I would do an interview and explain a little bit about the game. By this time I had already been interviewed three or four times and I was getting use to the feeling of being put on the spot with the camera eye looking at me. I happily accepted and went through explaining the ins and outs of Enchanted Arms. At the end of the interview, she had me look into the camera and say “Hola Amigos, you are watching X-Life.” I don’t know why, but I thought that was really cool.

My favorite part of the entire experience of being a Frag Doll, thus far, was definitely the high-level of social interaction. I’ve met amazing people, laughed so hard and enjoyed myself to an extent that is hard to put into words. I’m glad we have photos and camcorders to record our moments together, because it’s times like using a plate to play Frisbee in the hall with CRM that I don’t want to forget. And sure we hiked 5 miles (1/4 mile, I like to exaggerate) up a steep, nearly vertical, hill to get to a restaurant with people packed in like sardines, but I’m glad I had Steel hanging back with me to offer a piggy back ride in case one of my high heels gave out. And even though I’ve never danced before, it was cool that Gypsy and Rhoulette were there to show me their hawt moves and make me feel comfortable on the dance floor.

Of all the things I learned on this trip, the thing that stuck out the most was how our hardcore gamerness (shut up, it’s a word) really unites us. For example, we can all gather as a group and play patty-cake-type childhood games and have fun because of our deep down passion for playing. Rock on! Well, that and the crowd of banned booth babes protesting the new E3 dress codes in their skimpy outtyfits outside the expo doors… how do they squeeze into those things?! I’ll stick to my FD shirt, jeans, and comfy Puma gear.

P.S. Thanks to Expo for the awesome Voss water bottle. I got mother’s day flowers (because I’m a potential mother) and they look beautiful in my Voss vase.
