I guess going to ComicCon in San Diego last year really spoiled me, because the one in San Francisco seemed SO SMALL. It was like a concentrated version. Still really cool and geeky, but with like a tenth of the people and attractions. The one thing I don’t really get, is why it’s called WonderCon. There’s ComicCon San Diego and ComicCon New York, but the San Francisco convention gets its own wonderful name. I can’t help but think of a super hero when I think of WonderCon… maybe that’s why they named it that. Hmmmm… WONDERCON MAN!
Valkyrie, Mischief, Brookelyn and I spent a few days there showing off LOST: Via Domus and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. Can you believe that?! I got to play Terrorist Hunt on R6V2 with people pretty much all day long. It was a hit! We had lines of people at each station waiting to play. And then as soon as they killed all the terrorists or failed the mission, they’d get right back at the end of a line to play again.
All the LOST fans got a kick out of the new LOST game we were demoing. I’ve seen a couple episodes so I have an idea of what the show is about. But now that I’ve played all the way through the game, I feel like I’ve seen the first three seasons. In the game, you play a survivor of the crash, but not one of the main characters in the show. The survival action game takes you on a parallel story where you run into the main characters from the show who assist you in your journey to get off the island. The LOST: Via Domus game case has photos of what the charaters in the show look like, and I was blown away at how well they captured them in the game. The game characters look amazing! Very impressive.
It was cool walking around during our breaks and checking out all the toys, art, books and clothes. Some of the girls got these cute shirts that had funny art on them. For example, there was one with these two smiling peas with cowboy hats on dancing around, and on the shirt it said “Pea Pea Dance.” Hahahaha. They also had a quarter-machine that you could get a temporary pea tattoo out of. Brooke got a happy pea tat and put it on her hand. We got a kick out of telling her she had pea on her hand. Pee jokes are funny.
We were in total nerd heaven (but not as much as San Deigo). There was another booth with these remarkably detailed pop-up books; they were like pop-up books for grown-ups. And they only charged like ten bones for each. Crazy! Valkyrie spotted those and bought up a few. Mischief got a sweet Yoda backpack and a Brak statue… so awesome. We had a great time!
If you haven’t been to a ComicCon yet, it’s a very unique, incredible experience. I recommend putting it on your list of things to do before you die.
