Prepare to be jealous. Ahem. I got to play Rainbow Six Vegas 2!!!! Ahhhhhhh! It’s so yummy it makes me want to cry. I’m not allowed to talk about everything I saw, but let me just tell you this: You’re going to love it. I promise.
The first thing out of my mouth, as I ran around shooting dudes in the face was, “This is so smooth!” If I had to pick one word to describe R6V2, it would be smooth. I was in a silky world where I moved around effortlessly and shot down my sights with a graceful precision.
I got to play with all 11 new guns. One of the developers came in and did some tricky button combo (which won’t be in the final release of the game, so don’t waste your time on trying to figure it out), and unlocked all the weapons for me to play with. Psyche was there too, and we shot each other up testing them all out. I think I have a new favorite submachine gun.
We also got to try out the 11 new multiplayer maps and 2 new game modes! With only a few hours to play, we made sure to visit each beautiful map and explore it through killing each other. Mmmm, so good.
I like rewards (thus my fascination with my XBL gamerscore) and R6V2 is full of them. The reward system is incredible. There are three types of rewards: Experience Points, Ranks, and A.C.E.S.
- Experience Points – these are achieved by performing certain actions in single player, like reaching a check point, and by killing terrorists. You have an XP bar on your HUD which tracks your Experience Points. Once you receive a certain amount of XP points and fill up your bar, you earn a new Rank.
- Rank – With each rank you achieve, more and more cute outfits become available to play dress-up and make your girl pretty! …Err, I mean, you unlock new gear to enhance the toughness and badass look of your character.
- A.C.E.S. – Advanced Combat Enhancement Specialization. You are rewarded in three areas…
- Close Quarters – you’re rewarded for taking down guys that are close to you, and for using your flash bangs and smoke grenades.
- Assault – Use your frag grenades and C4 to get points in this category
- Marksmanship – rewarded for long ranged kills and head shots.
There are all kinds of great improvements to the game. For example, if you have a full party and a guy on Alpha team wants to change over to Bravo, he can do it. No one needs to leave the room. Also, you’re able to join matches that are already in progress, so you don’t have to be a spectator until the round ends. From what I can see, this game is perfect. I want to punt a kitten, it’s so good.
Talk about the biggest tease EVER. Now I have to wait until its release date until I can play it again. You know, now that I think about it, you guys shouldn’t be jealous of me; I’m jealous of you. You haven’t played the game yet, so you don’t really know what you’re missing. It doesn’t pain you like it does me to wait these next couple of months for the release of R6V2. *sigh*
