Melonie’s PAX East HighlightsAs some of you may already know, PAX East is the first event I have ever had the privilege of attending, and I had the time of my life! Undeniably, Boston is a captivating city, an impeccable location for hosting such a sensational event. The entire experience has been unforgettable. Demoing awesome games and meeting community members, along with a bunch of new faces, have most certainly contributed into making my experience a fabulous one; moreover, these are all points I simply cannot go without featuring.
Being as I worked the Splinter Cell Conviction booth, it may come as no surprise that this is the first game I wish to discuss. Like many other Splinter Cell fans, I spent a great deal of time playing the publicly released single player demo beforehand, which was definitely a contributing factor in making my transition onto multiplayer a fluid one. As you can imagine, the Splinter Cell booth was oozing with breathtaking gorgeousness. Sporting an enormous banner of the ever so handsome Sam Fisher, along with sixteen decked out demoing stations, it’s no wonder Conviction was such a crowd pleaser! Side by side, spectators played cooperatively as operatives Archer and Kestrel in Deniable Ops Hunter mode, tactically eliminating opposition wave by wave in Yastreb Complex. Naturally, I enjoyed every second of the game that I got to play, but I also had a lot of fun watching everyone else play while I helped them learn the controls, eagerly cheered them on, and ever so anxiously reminded them each and every single time their teammate was down and needed revived. There was never a dull moment at the Spinter Cell booth, and that is an understatement! Splinter Cell Conviction launches on the Xbox 360 April 13th. Get your preorders in now and hit me up on Xbox Live for some coop action!
Another booth that particularly caught my eye was that of Ska-Studios, furnished with billboards and props of their stylish upcoming Xbox Live Arcade title, The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile. What initially caught my eye was the insanely gritty and dark art style of the game, and much to my pleasure after playing the demo, I discovered that the gameplay is equally as awesome as its awe- inspiring, yet gruesome visuals. I honestly can’t say enough about how morbidly stylish Vampire Smile both looks and plays. As there is no set release date, we are all hoping to be graced by the presence of this fast-paced, blood pumping adventure by the end of the year. Until then, check out Vampire Smile’s comparably awesome predecessor, The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai, on Xbox Live.
It goes without saying, the games showcased at PAX were all fascinating attention grabbers; however, PAX fun is more than games alone (if you can believe that). I met a lot of wonderful people, and I hope to see them all again and keep in touch. Meeting the Frag Dolls and my fellow Cadettes is something I will never forget, they are like sisters to me now! In addition, I also met a lot of incredible people that came to the Splinter Cell booth! I look forward to playing coop with many of them upon Splinter Cell Conviction’s release. PAX was overflowing with genuinely awesome people, some of the nicest and coolest individuals I’ve met in a long time, and I definitely want to keep in touch with as many as possible.
From playing breathtakingly extraordinary games, to meeting some of the coolest people ever, PAX has been an unforgettable experience that I am so grateful to have been a part of. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank Ubisoft and the Frag Dolls for this wonderful opportunity. I also want to thank my family, my church, my Tomb Raider forum friends, and everyone I met at PAX for being so supportive and encouraging to me. Working as a Frag Doll Cadette is everything I had hoped and prayed for and much more! I had the time of my life, and look forward to even more wonderful future experiences.
