Well, it finally happened...Sanjaya Malakar was voted off American Idol last night! My Tuesday and Wednesday nights will never be the same. Each week I waited impatiently just to watch him. With his amateur singing and his crazy hairstyle, it was amazing to see that he had made it to the final 12.

America must have liked watching him embarrass himself as much as I did, because week after week we voted for him and kept him in the competition.  In fact, Howard Stern and the website www.votefortheworst.com encouraged all of America to vote for Sanjaya. Millions of people, including me, went along with this ploy for two reasons:

1) To find out if the voting on Idol is legit...(do America’s votes really count?)

2) Voting to keep the worst one made the show so much more interesting; I loved watching the shocked faces of the audience and judges each week Sanjaya was safe.

Valkyrie says I’m shameless for participating, but I disagree.  The truth is if Sanjaya made it to the top three, I would eventually vote for the most talented singer. I have somewhat of a heart. And as for the contestants voted off before Sanjaya, I figure they would have been voted off eventually, so what does it matter what order they were kicked?

Although his time has come to an end, I’m proud to say we kept Sanjaya on for five weeks. Each week he stayed on the show I found myself (believe it or not)liking him. Maybe it was the fact that all of America was making fun of him but he always kept a good attitude. He never game up. I know if I was 16, I wouldn’t be able to handle the negativity. I would be crying like a baby and would probably have quit the show. Props to Sanjaya for staying so confident!!

SANJAYA WILL ALWAYS BE MY AMERICAN IDOL!!!!! 

I have a feeling Vote Sanjaya t-shirts will be a top-seller this year.
